Why these two don't have ribbons is beyond my comprehension. And why Dax- has never scored above a 6.7 is just, well, I don't have a word for it. Somebody help me out.

I agree, both have some amazing stuff. They should have easily had a ribbon by now.

Dax's work is amazing but there are many voters that don't vote ehr style high for whatever reason. notice however that she has been shosen as a favorite photog over 350+ times. i don't get it either.

Anastasia, one of my all time favorite photographers with an average of 6.1992 in 65 submissions, was without a ribbon for the longest time. But then she finally screwed up and got a couple. :)

Consistency. Look at her past challenges that are above 90 percent. Then..... look at the favorites. I place more store in percentage score and number of favorites than the average score. Winning at DPC doesn't always mean exceptional photography. And Dax proves that exceptional photography doesn't always mean winning at DPC. DPC voters are fickle. Like many have said in these forums before, Ansel Adams would get voted down for lack of wow factor.

Highest place; 1-4th place and 1-5th place.

Last 15 challenge = + 6 avg. :)

I've only entered 18 challenges (currently in 2 others), no ribbons...couple honorable mentions though. Average is in the high 5.9's.

But I don't consider myself anything special or even capable of producing something ribbon worthy, so I exclude myself from discussion :)

You have some nice stuff though. It won't be very long before you score blue.

I agree. I think Ansel Adams would get 5's regularly here on this site with comments like "would have like to seen this in color".

didn't the SC actually enter one of Adams' own shots into the Ansel Adams challenge and it ended up scoring fairly low?

Yanko and I were neck and neck (his requirement was 30+ challenges) but he nailed the Abstract Macro.

Last week I got my 2nd 7+. I wonder what the record is for 7+ scores and no ribbon. ;-)

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. To be mentioned in the same thought as Dax is flattering. She has some amazing work.

I am going for consistancy and improvement. I've entered almost every challenge possible since I started. 62 in less than 6 months. I've learned a lot from some very talented members, DrAchoo, idnic, De Sousa, Bear_Music, and others have all been very helpful when asked. Looking at the work of kiwiness, goodman, librodo, anyone from Iceland, has inspired me to get better. Great comments like thse from stdavidson and posthumous help too. Having fun in the forums with judi, jaded_youth, Elvis_L, biteme, sherpet, just to name a few, makes DPC the best site on the net.

I may get to meet Langdon in a week or so. he, alfresco and I are going to be in Vegas at the same time. I am really looking forward to that!

And to ensure a score in the low 5s, I am really excited about my Oct. Free Study entry!

It was meant that you are a great photographer AND fun in the forums.

Now who's embarrassed!

David, I'm so glad you appreciate my mostly misguided advice *giggles* and I KNOW you are right around the corner from becoming a ribbon-hog. You do very nice work and you're consistent, success is near for you, my man! :)
