When I first read the titles, I thought they meant "take a portrait of a person within a landscape" and "take a picture of a landscape with a person in it". Only just before clicking on them to read the description did I realise it meant the orientation of the photo.

It's okay, I just had my flu shot for this year. ;-)

Love these challenges, both of them!

What is an "expressive" portrait? "Expressive" as in what?

I am so excited! I've worked for the last 12 months on a style of landscape oriented portraits... ugh, guess I just jinxed that. :/

May I ask what exactly you are waiting for:)

I would have thought this covers most things, a portrait doesn't have to be of a person.

Hahahaha...I think they mean that the image must make an impact on the viewer.

Well, I'm glad they said that in the description. I mean, normally everybody just makes portraits that make no impact whatsoever on the viewer, so it's good to have the "expressive" thing in the description.

:))))))

Bummer, just a few months too late. :-(

Yay! I finally get to play again, I have no less than 5 photoshoots in the next 4 days that I can take a portrait in landscape orientation.

How about this one..... It was one I didn't choose for the faceless portrait challenge.

I totally agree, but you throw a dog or horse in there, and watch the voters tank it. We had this discussion last year about what "portrait" means. You just never know with this crowd. LOL

Maybe terje can have a chance on this one, don't you think so?
10/25/2006 08:15:41 AM · #24
Here's one I entered a couple of months to early (and in the wrong challenge if judged by my score). I guess I'll have to see if he has any more loose teeth. ;-)

Yes, a very cool idea.

I, too, am in the "couple months ago" category... Too bad all my best pictures occur at random times - I can't make them happen when I need them =) Thus, I'm doomed in DPC world!
