I'm screwed...

I was hoping for it to be a non-member challenge since I've been asking for a challenge like this. Oh well. Maybe next time it comes around.

Man I dont believe it !

I will have to do my famous Green Thai Curry or Ginger and Garlic Tiger Prawns...

I really do wish however we could submit photos from the past on this one as im away for a few days and this could be difficult to get it done... Even as a newbie i am confident on this one as its a more strict brief than of previous challenges.

Although my seard scallops are bloomin great too - I can almost smell the brandy :0)

But it will be a tough challenge to capture the smell on photo :)

10/09/2003 04:52:39 PM · #15
Hmm, I have a cookbook called 'how to boil an egg'...
10/09/2003 05:00:25 PM · #16
what the !?!?!?!?!

ok I'm having some trouble with this....

"Make something out of a recipe book or web site. Photograph before or during or after and use that as your submission. You should put the recipe in the details section of the submission."

Now are we Photographing "as if" we we're photographing illustration for a recipe book or a cooking web site, or is the purpose something else that I'm completely missing.

As for put the recipe in the details dose that mean that an entry will be DQed for not including a recipe, and how will anyone know that no recipe was included till after the voting is finished.

secondly and less important shouldn't the artistic and creative energy on this site be more scued toward Digital photography than food

attractive presentation of food can be as creative as you want it, not ot mention difficult.
10/09/2003 05:19:30 PM · #18
You can make great photographs of food, ingredients and preparing stuff. Just look at cookbooks, sometimes there is amazing stuff in there.

As for including the recipe, I'm pretty sure that the recipe feature is just for the enjoyment of everyone after the challenge - "Hmmm - that looks good, I wonder how I could make that myself?" I don't think there will be any DQ requests for not putting in a recipe. But, if you shoot something that looks really yummy and don't include a recipe, I'll come looking for you after the challenge wanting to know how it was made!

There are many many many styles of food photography imho...

if your not sure what i mean or what way you want to convey your shot then go look in a few recipe books r food magazines.

The food mags are good as tehy show up to date ways to portray good food, be warned tho that most of the shots you see with turkeys and sausages are caoted in varnish and other none edible substances to make them shoot better ! Perhaps if you want to salvage your dinner you could do this, up to you but i know which one im going to make for us all :0)

Take some rice, some seaweed, one fishNemo Sushi

:)

This one should be fun.

Be warned, I make most of my recipes up as I go along, so I rarely know if it'll taste good until its done cooking.

I've already started the ingredients, just another hour of marinading and I'll be ready to start the big stuff. Hopefully you all know exactly how much a 'pinch' and a 'dash' is. ;)

LOL.. I'm a professional chef. Definately an amatuer photographer (at this point in my life). Will the recipes be available to critique with the photo's?

My recipe will make you think you died and went to heaven , my photograph will make you think I died and went to ....um pergatory?

None the less it is a good challenge after several weeks of draught for me.

Oh yeah I am entered in a cooking contest this weekend too:)

Yay, double duty challenge!

I used to cook pro. So I've got a few tricks up my sleeve too!

So what kind of ribbon do we get for the best recipe? The golden oven mitt?
