All of this analysis and back and forth chatter about what constitutes Urban, Landscape, or Urban Landscape - has anyone considered the actual Challenge Detail: Shoot anything with buildings - from cities to villages.

So - does it REALLY have to be a huge Landscape? The challenge is 'anything with buildings' - as far as I interpret it, a photo of a singular building - anywhere - close up - far away - whatever - would meet the challenge.

I agree... almost :) The detail says "buildings" -- plural. A single building wouldn't meet the challenge, now would it? I mean, as long as we're picking nits and all...

Here we go again. Well, this time I'm going to post my score breakdown, because I got some nasty messages from the irony challenge, since I interpreted it differently than some.

Urban Landscape: Urban to me is city related. Big city with multiple buildings. Grungy, industrial, even perhaps, but not necessarily. Urban landscape to me means a city span in the photo. One or two buildings... fine, but you're getting a low score. Pictures in remote places or of fields etc? probably a 2.

Photo has one building in it gets at least a 3 from me. More than one building in it - at least a 4. If the photo screams big city (lots of buildings, skyscrapers, etc) at least a 5 or 6. Creative positioning of the buildings in the frame and an attractive photo = at least a 7 or 8. And up from there depending on how appealing it is to me.

Reasonable?

Just taken a marathon run at Urban Landscape voting.

Realised I had voted on everyone and commented on 75 of them.

I found they were a mixed lot with some real gems - gave 3 of them a 10

But a goodly number for either technique and/or challenge meeting and/or just that "personal liking versus gut feeling issue" got a low vote - sorry I hope I have not upset anyone.

Where it was obvious that technique was off I tried to give what I hope were constructive critique.

Must give some thought as to whether I am up to entering the current challenges.

People are giving scores based on the number of buildings (1 or more than 1) in the picture? That's downright weird. I never thought anyone would even think of counting the number of buildings in a picture. Guys, common! One building, more than one building, "urban", "landscape", come on! How about looking at the pictures and forgetting this nitpicky stuff about whether it fits exactly into my or your or someone else's interpretation of what the challenge topic is.

141 votes and not a single comment on my urban landscape (which is actually both urban and landscape)..

Sure wish I knew why I'm runnin' less than average, about a 4.5. Ah well, still have a few days of voting left maybe someone will comment soon.
