I don't see a place to comment, so I'll comment here. It doesn't look particularly high contrast to me, though that is a lay opinion. I have no idea what officially makes something high contrast. As an image, it is conceptually pleasing to see a big piece of wood host to a swirling swarm of smaller wooden creatures. the smaller creatures echo the shape of the bigger creature, and in fact threaten to completely replace the original. Already more than half of it is hidden. The fun part for the viewer is completing the picture in your head. We do that by looking at the thing that is covering it. The irony of that causes further pleasure. Then my eyes drift to the background, but there's not much of it and nothing there captures my attention. So I'm done. A little too soon, I think. I can think of two ways off the top of my head to keep a viewer looking at your image longer: compelling subject matter and/or a composition that keeps the eye moving.

I just wanted to comment on how wonderful the people here are that they will give up their time giving such wonderful comments. That is one of the reasons I love this site. The people here are just so wonderful and (usually) so selfless. So thanks to all of you.

P.S. I am not going to post a photo for you to comment on because I don't know if you are still backed up or not, but if you do feel like continuing on your Reaction Club critiquing, fee free to comment on any picture in my portfolio, from the best to the worst... have at it :)

I'm not backed up, I'm caught up! :) I'll check out your portfolio.

Not the most emotive shot in the world, but I kinda like the purty colors. What thinks you?
10/21/2006 06:50:34 PM · #34
Thanks. And what really makes the shot for me is what you saw, oddly enough - the rusted screws. The pretty colors just kinda give them a canvas, sorta.

Thanks for the comment! That was probably the last picture I expected you to comment on, yet it was one of my personal favorites :) . I definitely agree with what you said. Thanks again!

Well, I've just gone over the 4000 mark in comments made, and the 1000 mark in comments received. To celebrate, I thought I'd bump this thread. Anyone want a reaction from the Reaction Club of One? I'd also love it if you left me a comment... it doesn't have to be positive!! :D

I will take a comment on this one if you do have time.

Appreciate it...

Thanks
