Question for you all (sor of as a warm up) Does anyone have any thoughts on approaches to rhe Faceless Portrait challenge? I've been fiddling with ideas, but nothing's coming together.
10/04/2006 06:55:59 PM · #6
have not thought about yet, when i read the challenge i had a couple, but implementation needs time:)

but i was thinking do you guys want to have inner competitionS between us:

1) we agree on a challenge and we all participate and see who score the highest.
2) another one is we all pick the same image and process it, this way we will all learn from each others processing, i allready suggested that in a general thread and they are doing that ,but it does not hurt to do it between team D50 members, we can do that on one of each of the following:portrait, landscape, macro... .
3) maybe we can suggest a competition with another team as warm up for the WPL

anyway let me know guys, any more ideas are more than welcome:)

Go team D50!!!

I like al three ideas. I'm in

Another thought would be to critique some of the stuff we've already done and talk about them here.

I really don't know much about what we have to do. I've never really followed the action before. When does the competition start? I don't have any ideas for the faceless challenge. I currently have one in for the beer advertisement. I wouldn't mind doing a post processing just for fun. Actually, I have a picture that I would like to see what other people could do with it. I just can't seem to get something GREAT out of it but I think it has potential.

I like your ideas, all of them! My technical skills are fair but I really have trouble developing a good composition. Would like to see everyone enter the same challenges and compete internally, but also like the idea of everyone developing the same image for critique.

I like the ideas as well. I can always learn more Post Processing tips and tricks!!

allright,
i will do my best to critique your images over the weekend.

as for the challenge , are you guys interested in the faceless challenge or we pick something else.
and for post processing i will post something and send you the link and see the outcome of the post processing:)

how does one get on Team D50?
10/05/2006 10:39:17 AM · #14
unfortunately , there are no more spots, since the requirement for the WPL is 7 per team. nevertheless you are more than welcome to join us with our activities.

The "Faceless Portrait" challenge is resticted to those with full membership, do we have one or two that are eligible only for basic challenges?

Slim pickens for the challenges IMHO. I don't own a woody or ducky and care not too ;)

I am so repelled by the sight of those things I won't even vote on those challenges, but some people just love them!

I agree with ElGordo. I've seen enough Duckies to last me a lifetime.

hehehehe , i was actually thinking of heading to toys are us to get me a ducky, well then i guess the dpc members in team D50 can do the faceless, and we have to wait till next week for a new challenge.
as for now as i told you guys once i get home tonight i 'll post a landscape i think and see what we can come up with.
and i 'll be trying to contact other team captains to see if we can get us a team vs team challenge.

cheers

Bmartuch send us an email with a landscape picture,
we don't have the email for Elgordo and thebryguy, it would be great if you could pm them to me so that we add them to the list.
Peterish and I allready gave out our version of the picture. comments are more than welcome :)

a friend of mine asked me if he can join the post processing work we are doing, i think anyone outside team D50 who is interested can let me know. the more the better, we'll have more opinions and more ideas. in the end our objective is to improve.

Here is my updated version. I just used curves for this.

Does anyone else in the group have a picture for the group to PP. I like Hassan's idea of e-mailing the original full size version to work with. I think this could be fun and educational for all involved. I think Peter was right about cropping out the line of bushes at the bottom of my photo. I will have to play with this some more. BTW, Hassan, I use PSP myself. I have version 9.
