Apple released the replacement for the Nano today, and an update to the video ipod, as well as a new Itunes with some new content.

The 30GB iPod video is now only $250, and it's a little bit smaller. Might be a good option for people who want to back up their memory cards in the field.
The Nano is now made of aluminum, and with a $50 price drop on the 2 and 4GB models and no more 1GB model. The new 8GB one is $250. The screen and battery are also better, and it comes in more colors.

the iTunes store now has Ipod Game downloads. I bought Pac-Man and Mah-jongg. Pac-man is fun. You move around by using the scroll-wheel. There are also a large number of movies now available for download at the ipod store.

I love the little shuffle, what a great idea to make it a clip. I think that's going to be my Christmas present!

It is cool, but I like to know what song I'm listening to and even a regular CD player would work a little better in that regard.

I have the 30GB video ipod. I have a little photo transfer thingy that plugs into the camera and then into the ipod. works like a charm.

Yeah we already have an IPOD (one of the earlier ones) and I just find it too big when I go for a walk and have to carry my cellphone and keys as well (I don't normally have pockets). For an hours walk the new shuffle will be perfect for me.

So you can put your photos right on your ipod, and could get the full resolution file onto your computer later on?

It's called an Ipod camera connector. camera connector

Some people complain about this device. I've had very good luck. I used it on my two-week trip to Japan and it was great for transferring all my photos from my 2gb memory card.

That's right. If you shoot in RAW, you can't view the photos on the ipod. You can still save RAW images, they just won't display on the ipod. If you shoot in jpeg, you can preview the photos right on the ipod screen. Then, when you get home, set the ipod to disk mode and you can transfer all of your photos from the ipod to your computer.

I shot in RAW during my trip, uploaded the photos to the ipod, and it worked great.

That sounds fantastic. A place to store lots of photos, and listen to some tunes. I'm going to definitely have to look in to that.

yep the new IPOD nanos should work out to be great seller items this christmas especially with the different colors now.... I have the black 30gb version, the only difference with the new one is a longer battery life and brighter screen. I have 2 ipods now though my 30gb ipod and a 1gb ipod nano still new in the box collecting dust.....

AND!!! for the games I think thats awesome I brought pacman and minature golf which is awesome and fun... the games are great...

I have always used my IPOD for pictures, great for backing up pictures and always having them with you.

how much are the songs? i am thinking about getting one but someone told me the songs were $1 for each, but that sounds extreme!

ok the site says .99/per song? so people actually spend hundreds of dollars on songs? wow, i dont listen to enough music for all that. i'll stick to the radio.

Do you buy CDs at stores? Typical prices are between $12 and $19, regardless of the number of songs on the CD. iTunes sells over 90% of their CDs for $9.99 (individual songs are .99). In my book, that's a savings worth it when you consider the convenience factor (buy now, listen to immediately).

The radio is definitely cheaper, but if you like to buy legal music, iTunes is a very valid alternative to brick and mortar music stores.

Really slow for me too with Canon 20D. A 2 GB card sucks a full battery charge form the iPod.

I have never bought a CD. Its usually not worth it to me to buy the whole thing when I only like one or two songs. I'm cheap, LOL.

In that case, it's a very good match for you. Apple had to fight the record companies tooth and nail to get the OK to sell music by the song. Many artists object to the "breaking up" of their carefully packaged and composed albums. If you only want one or two songs, you can do that with most online vendors like iTunes, Rhapsody, eMusic, etc. Occasionally, you find a track that is not available individually, but only with the album (Apple's concession to the artists), but most of the time, you can pick and choose.

I never once had a legal song on my Ipod when I had it.

I am really tempted to get an IPOD, but a major plus for me would be the ability to dump my photos on there straight from the camera. Everywhere I look people tell me that it sux! I am really not sure what to do.

I guess its similar to the time I had a minidisc player, it would last for hours just playing, but as soon as you wanted to write to the disk, the battery would be sapped in minutes.
