The date will be saturday oct 21st.
---------------------------------------------------

The location where we are going to meet next Saturday is "De Restauratie" @ track 1a (in dutch spoor 1a) @ Central Station. This is the same location as in januari and easy to find.

We are going to meet there at 12.00. Half an hour later, when everyone is present, I think we will walk around town a bit and see where it goes. Last time I had this great plan and nothing came of it. :)

I tried to hire a guide, but they were either very expensive or wanted the group splitted up. So no guide. I have a Rembrandt walking route and I think we will walk parts of that route to check out where Rembrandt got all those bright ideas. On the way there will be pubs, probably pannekoeken, have dinner together, drink a couple of beers and stuff like that. When the weather is crap there are plenty musea's and exhibitions to check out. Someone has also threatened to shoot me when we don't do a canal tour.... You know who you are!
When Hanneke goes home I have to leave you for a moment, she has to be at the trainstation by 18.00.

If people want to hang out on Sunday, let's discuss that saturday ok.

Oh, almost forgot: Bring your camera!

Who

Anyone can join in at any time, even if you just show up at the last moment without being on the list.
If you are on the Maybe's and want to confirm or say you are not coming, or not on it at all, post here or pm me.
This is for the saturday only, for those who want to do something on sunday as well: We will discuss it there, depending on the weather and stuff like that.

The only list that I update:

Confirmed for the Saturday:

lowonenergy
obsidian
biteme
alexgarcia
imagine74

99% sure:

Oh, you are killing me here - just visited Amsterdam for the 1st time in June, stayed right around the corner from Vondelpark.. Just reading this makes me want to hop on a plane and join everyone :(

Just a couple of thoughts (from the tea-with-milk, English-ale-drinking, hoping-to-see-his-D80-soon English guy :-):

* Saturday would be better than Sunday for me and I suspect others travelling to Amsterdam as it then gives you Sunday to get over Saturday night and get home for Monday - my preference would be to get into Amsterdam on the Friday anyhow

* models outside in October could be a little on the cool side and if the weather is bad you would need to have an inside location as a back-up - suggest a model-less shoot, maybe, and concentrate on what the city has to offer?

* the last London GTG followed a "guided" (a set of instructions from the net) walk through a well-known area of London, which took in a lot of interesting sights and one or two pubs - how about a simple 3 - 5 km walk along a known/written route?

* Indonesian food in the Student Quarter - please :-)

Just some thoughts before going off to bed

That is a good idea. I added it to my first post. Actually I prefer saturday myself as well.

Good points. This GTG is not really intented to be any kind of workshop like thing so it is not an important issue (for me).

There are walks like these. I have a route that I got at the last GTG, a special Rembrandt walk. But there are several others as well and easy to get.

Last time I checked the whole center is Student Quarter. :)
Maybe you can lead the way, the last time you took us to the Italian in Muenster and it was excellent! ;)

Going to bed now as well.

Sander

It shows a sign of desperation when the organiser believes that a foreign tea-with-milk drinker could possibly hope to find a good restaurant outside of his native land... Great challenge though! :-P

We wouldn't want to miss you. :)
So, my vote is for 21/22 as well (also more convenient, the other date is close to when I come back).

I'm innnnnnnn! I was hoping this to come. Well, I have to look closer for flights and accomodation, but I'll do my best.
About the day, that weekend is great for me. I also prefer on Saturday, because on Monday I have to work, so I can try to arrive to Amsterdam on Friday night or Saturday and leave Sunday afternoon.
WOW, we are GOING-TO-GETTING-TOGETHER!!!!!
Oh, and the walk would be lovely.

It would be great if you guys (Alex & Inma) would come. The time in Germany was too short to get to know you well.

Is the general opinion that this should be October 21 and 22 then?

Also, only one muts???? :-)

You know, there could be a mini competition that involves the best photo from the GTG that does not feature windmills, clogs, canal boats, red lights and nuns on bikes...

October 21 or 22 would be perfect for me, a week earlier I hope to be in Rome :-)). I'd like to come, but can't promise anything yet. I'm recovering from an operation on a herniated disc a couple of weeks ago, not sure how fit I'll be in 5 or 6 weeks. Would be great to see all of you IRL!

Ouch! Painful operation - hope that you recover fast enough to join the GTG and then realise that there is a different sort of pain :-)

If the date is set for sure on the 21st. I can arrange something with my work so I can come.. I need to know for sure that it is on the 21st...

I wanna come, only depends on the small bump ;-)

Can't say if I'll be there but I am interested. I don't do sundays. And I'm not interested in modelshoots. (I prefer subjects that don't carry an opinion.) And uhm... both saturdays would work for me.

The GTG photo for Munster was taken by one of the models (you know who you are!) He was given a Canon 350D by aKiwi but couldn't quite figure out how to use it to best effect, and so aKiwi showed him how to set it up for best effect.

It was then that someone suggested that the camera be out into "M" mode, as clearly M = model mode...

There was some small amount of laughter.

My experience of models thus far is that they are far less opinionated than photographers, especially a gaggle (collective noun for a group of photographers?) that are all trying to take the same shot at the same time!

In jest...

Having seen the photographic evidence from the wee trip to Amsterdam post the Munster GTG it strikes me that you may be the best person to tell folk where the fun is, Roz!

Along with Gary, Nasti, Peter and the "wunderkind" ... :-)

I hear from most people (also via PM) that the preffered date is saturday the 21st. So that's going to be the GTG date.

I'll adjust the original message in a moment.
