It's not a great score but decent and the comments are wonderful! I knew it wouldn't be a high scoring picture but I really like it so much. It really pleases me that most of the commenters saw the same thing in it that I did!

Improved slightly, seems like not very many people like what I like. Why bother?

WOW...I suck...but I have no idea why [perhaps that is precisely the problem ;)]. Only comment is great, but score suggests they don't know a thing about photography.

I browsed through most of the submissions and I am also very suprised at the significant amount that are essentially snapshots. This is unexpected, but I thought it was going to help my score standout better...guess not.

I will definitely be making a post after the challenge to ask why my shot was so terrible.

Because it's fun? That's why I bother - it's great to get high scores and win ribbons but mostly it's supposed to be fun.

You haven't been in many challenges yet and your scores will improve as you learn what doesn't work from pictures that don't score well. That's the key - learn from what doesn't score well and use that to improve your pictures.

In the end though, what matters the most is whether you like your picture - not whether other people do!

I liked this image, but it is not doing well so far, and no comments either. :(

Much better this end of the day. I started up sooo slow it will be hard to move up much. Some comments useful, some not.

Considering that it's another one of my "shoehorn" photos, I'm not too displeased with this score.

Exactly 5. My photo must be splitting the judges. Equal amounts of love and loathing.

Wasn't expecting much from my photo at all. Was a really hasty pic just to get it in to the challenge, and hopefully get some constructive crits... Oh well... Let's see how it does :).

Wow! Hoping the second half has some gems in it.

First 100:
6+: 32
5-: 68

Still holding...knock on wood!
09/06/2006 06:14:08 PM · #69
this challenge and the scores remind me of the second challenge I entered comfort- where my photo with just 6.09 came 17th out of 243. A very low scoring challenge partly because of average photos but also because of the different versions of comfort that different people have. This challenge feels exactly the same to me.
So I'm hopefull that my still rising 5.7 will be a reasonable score.

Just for kicks, does anyone know which challenge in DPC history had the lowest winning score? I think that would be interesting to check out.

.

OH! Lowest WINNING score. Too bad we can't sort the Challenge Archives but the lowest I saw while skimming through was the Stupid, Stupid Elephant. 6.4xx

6.419 in Affluence challenge was the lowest Blue I've found.

Followed by 6.470 for this one in Stupid, Stupid challenge.

09/06/2006 08:55:49 PM · #75
man, scores still quite volatile. Dropped .15 in 3 votes (3,5,4). Could just as easily bounce back up...

...or just keep going down. now down a full 0.2 in 5 votes (two more 5s).
