Wow, I might have missed it if it weren't for this thread. I now have 28 more days to redeem myself for the 5.0777 mistake I put in for August.

Thank you Drew & Langdon.

Is that a first? two month-long ones in a row?

At least now I'll be more inspired to use my digital camera more this month..

YEA!!! Love it! I'm much better shooting what I like instead of for a specific subject.

I think more free studies will raise the spirits around this place more than we know. Too many fine photographers have stepped to the sidelines on this site or left completely, and I suspect that a great deal of it is/was due to the petty microscope scrutiny voters have shown in what meets/doesn't meet a challenge and their images getting kicked in the dirt.

Way to go in getting this site back on track and a fun place to be!!!
Thank you Drew & Langdon and any SC members that may have pushed this to happen !

I have to agree with you Brad, DNMC arguments are killing the fun. This should help a lot.

I agree to a degree... :) for me a big part of the fun here is to find an unusual, creative, or humorous twist on the topic offered, the more difficult topic, the more challenged and interested I am (and the better I seem to do). It's like a problem or puzzle solving. "Free studies" are just too wide open for all sorts of "pretty pictures" that will always win these challeges (nothing wrong with that of course).

The topic challenges to put us at task are still in place for those that want to be challenged as you said.
The free study is just a gift in addition to the topic-related challenges.

Just saw it on the list. I must admit that free studies gets me out and about a whole heck of a lot more than if I just did themed challenges. Lets see, we may see some autumn colors in Sept., we have terrific shoreline storms, there is the whole fair and harvest thing, and the list is endless in this wonderful New England.

I haven`t been able to submit very much this year due to work commitments...however my wife and I are off tomorrow (Sunday) for a short break in Ireland, so I hope to take full advantage of this bonus Free Study.
Thanks to all concerned.

Yeah! Monthly free studies are great IMO. I LOVE it (even though I chickened out in August).

Any idea on how to accomplish this while not helping Falc? Geez, he doesn't need any help and neither does Brad.

Ursula, your images are far too good for you to feel the need to chicken out and keep them hidden from us (your fans).

I will let this lapse in judgement slide this time - but please don't let it happen again.

You evidently haven't watched my slow but steady travel backwards have you.
I just keep knocking chunks out of my average - I'll never get back to 6
