I'm currently planning an outing for 10/28 but would be open to planning one for another date as well. Come to one or come to both. Destination still undecided. Post here if interested and with suggestions.

Thoughts?

Hi Jen, I live in the Albany area and am interested, but weekends in October are looking scarce! WHat's the NYC PHotoExpo?? I haven't heard of it - do you have any info? thanks! Beth

Hope you can go--I live in the Albany area too and it would be nice to find someone to carpool to Ithaca with!

Hi Beth. The Photo Expo is a lot of fun. They have courses that you can take with some of the top names - I took one on lighting with Jack Dykinga. All the big name companies are there with their merchandise and new toys. You get to walk around the showroom floor looking at the toys, learning about them, getting/signing up for free samples. They even have speakers at some of them. For instance, one booth was a selling portrait lighting lessons on CD's and they had a mini studio set up with a model and were doing demonstrations. Lots of cool stuff. I didn't make it last year so am hoping to go this year.

Yea, maybe you and Neil could work something out together.

Edit: Meant to give you the link. Doh! Photo Plus Expo - NYC

I'm not sure about my schedule yet, but I'll be keeping an eye on this thread to see what everyone decides on! :)

I am in, I should be able to make it any weekend. I am also tempted to go this photoexpo...

Heading out to Wilmington, VT in about an hour :)

Count me tentatively in for the 28th. Life has been chaotic lately, but I'm hoping things may settle down enough by then :)

Hey new daddy! :-)

Hope to see you there...and with lots of baby girl pics to show off!

I'd like to go too - put me down as a tentative. As the date gets closer, I'll be able to confirm for sure. It's going to be somewhere in the Ithaca area, correct?

I'll be watching this thread for updates. :-)

Sounds good. I'm not sure of my schedule, but keep me posted!

Sounds great, everyone.

Could you post which date, or dates, that you would plan to attend?

I'm definitely planning for 10/28 but Neil (nshapiro) suggested choosing two (because I have bad luck with rain...lol) so I guess that would be 10/14. If you'll just post your date(s) then I'll make a list in my first post.

Thanks.

Brent, that's what we did last year. I'd be fine with doing Ithaca again this year - it is pretty. I'm not sure I'd want to do Ithaca both times though....but I would imagine the location would be within 45 minutes of Ithaca.

Would everyone toss out thier location ideas as well?

Ithaca would obviously be fine with me, but a couple alternatives I would enjoy:

To the West, Keuka & Canandaigua Lakes
To the North, Sodus Point & Chimney Bluffs State Park
To the Northeast, Owasco & Skaneateles Lakes & Fillmore Glen State Park
To the Southeast (quite a ways), Cannonsville & Pepacton Reservoirs

Right now I'd be interested in either weekend. As it gets closer I'll be able to be more definitive.

I've only been to the Ithaca area once, so I'm not sure all that's there - but anywhere within a reasonable distance is fine with me, as I'll be coming up from Binghamton.

Right now, I'm going to set aside the 10/28 date, so go ahead and put me down.

My second gtg, I'm excited!

Okay, I've updated my original post with the dates and names of those planning to attend.

eqsite - Great suggestions. I'm open to just about anything. Does anyone else have any input or thoughts on his list, or do you have other suggestions?

Eric - Great! Glad to hear it. Hey, did you change your email? You keep bouncing back on the STOP emails.

Odyssey - Super! Look forward to meeting you!

Okay, so I was out driving around yesterday and really started noticing the early signs of fall here and there. I'm seeing some reds and bright oranges. Anyone else seeing color yet?
09/10/2006 02:56:07 PM · #22
Yep, I've been noticing the changing colors too. Wonder if the 28th will be too late for good foliage shots? I'm still unsure about either weekend, but I've got the thread marked to watch. Thanks for organizing Jen!

Looks like I am going to be in Canandaigua 9/22-9/24. I'd love to get together with anyone in the area while I'm up there. PM's welcome and I have this thread marked Watch.

(Here in Philadelphia today I noticed our first turning tree. Bright orange and red.)

I'd love to come again. Last year was great. I'm not sure of the dates though. I'll let you know when the date is decided.

Melanie: I would aim for the earlier date for color this year. I'm thinking 10/28 may be past peak. I'm still up for shooting both days though. So long as nothing comes up.

_eug: Unfortunately I'll be away then. If you're ever in the area again let me/us know!

Nikolai: I'm trying to plan both dates so whichever you can make, come on up!
