I've been playing around with photography for about 6 months now. I have a camera and a wide angle lens and a tripod. I don't have a lot of money, so I'm wondering what some people think is a good item to purchase next. Let's say what one item under $150 is the next piece of equipment I should get? A filter? A lens? Something else?

Thanks for your advice!

If you don't have a circular polarizer, that might be a very good investment.

Thanks for your input. There are so many interesting pieces of equipment that people think are good, I just wasn't sure where to start expanding my equipment list.

What is a circular polarizer, and why is that a good investment?

It is a smoke colored filter to put on front of your lens. It has several uses. Main use to remove glare from Water, Glass, Plastic etc It also helps bring out colors when shooting landscapes

Example if you take a shot of a car outside you will most likely get reflections on the windows if you use a Polarizing filter you can actually focus on the interior of the car in some cases.
You can turn the filter to show the reflection if you wish. it enhances blues and greens quite nice also depending on how you turn it. hope that helps.
