Isn't this photo showing a bit to much?
Nudity. Nudity is an acceptable form of art on this site. Photographs may not, however, show male or female genitalia or any acts of sex. Nudity should be presented in a tasteful manner.

I don't see any female genitalia. Just underwear.

So I am just ignorant :-) (and colourblind)
It is ok, by me lol

Technically, no I don't think so as all parts are covered (barely).

It does make me a bit nervous to pull up the DPChallenge website at work this week as it is borderline appropriate. I wish it was labeled nude then it wouldn't show...actually on second thought - do nudes show on the front page regardless or would the placeholder show for those with preferences to hide nudes selected?

As for the image it's another example of how "sex sells". :-/

I would like to see more photos like De Sousa's whether with exposed female or male genetalia or not.....

Human sexuality is one of the most fascinating subjects and I applaud anyone that has the ability to go after the topic.

There is a huge void that exists between the typical internet porn sites that solicit people for $3.99 a month and the pictures of flowers and butterflies and raindrops that proliferate on photo contest sites. I hope De Sousa and others continue to explore the territory in between.

Let's not let this thread get highjacked by nudity issues. The OP and Dr. Achoo last week have created good threads talking about De Sousa's great abilities. I too hope he puts notes on his pics and adds pics to his portfolio because he's clearly an excellent photographer and artist.

Congratulations De Sousa!

I just don't get the title. Anyone care to explain if they know?
08/21/2006 10:50:21 AM · #9
just on the side -- the image has been flagged, so if you have it set to not show nudes, you should be worksafe, now.

I might be wrong, but to me it looks kinda like a fireWOMAN. That would make sense (but tell another story).

wavelength.. the title is because of his recent ribbon in the fire challenge.. its a play on words

on fire is a common term used to depict the act of being lucky or winning a lot :)

Now, I'm really confused. I thought the title in question was "She hates to be Betrayed" or something like that.

edit -- oh, the thread title.

Lets see.....

I think "She Hates To Be Betrayed" = "Hell Hath No Fury Like A Woman Scorned"

and

"De Sousa, on fire?" = He is kicking ass and taking names :-D

I think the title indicates that the woman on the firefighter's shoulder was betrayed and therefore started the fire. That's just my take!

For one of the few times since I joined DPC I am grateful for that button. (Sorry folks, another tiny hijack) IMHO the front page image borders on 'soft-porn' which, if one wants it, can undoubtedly be located elsewhere on the net.

That said, I am an artist. I have drawn from life models many times. Tasteful nudity is just fine. Exploitive nudity is not. Again, IMHO.
Okay, end of tiny hijack.

I just assumed that the woman was a pyromaniac who dresses in sexy underwear, starts a fire, then waits for the hot fireman to resue her - therefore, she "doesn't like to be betrayed".

Also, there is no genitalia. She has a red G-String on.

And yes, he is on fire - some excellent work he has produced recently.

English is not Jorge's first language. He does pretty well with it, but I suspect the confusion about the title is a translation issue.

As always, I continue to be impressed with his rapid and consistent ascent.

Congratulations again, Jorge!

Shakespeare: Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
Seems pretty obvious to me.
Edit: Actually it was first in a play by William Congreve "The Mourning Bride" (1697)

Sorry, I didn't and still don't make that connection here, but whatever. Looks more like he's carrying her off to have his way with her. If it were a scorned woman, I think the nature of the photo would be different.

It doesn't matter, I just don't get the title.

Not sure how rapid and consistent of ascent (in photography) he is haveing. On DPC he is. He is oviously someone that has been shooting awhile (look at all the toys he has to play with--FOG MACHINE!!). Maybe just came over to digital?
