Hi,
I signed up with Model Mayhem recently to try and meet models who would pose for stock. I've only sent out a couple emails so far with no replies. I take the time to describe stock, let them know what I'm looking for, and I give them a link to my istock portfolio so they can see what I've done so far. If you are using MM models successfully, please chime in and share your secrets for success. Thanks!

Nobody?? I guess MM may be a waste of time (although I did get a reply this morning, and will be setting up a shoot in a couple days).

I have not really used model MM but have used similar Australian based sites.

Are you offering paid assignments or TFCD? I think you will find most models regard TFCD as OK for not for profit assignments, but would not like a TFCD shoot posted on stock photography sites as this makes it a commercial shoot.

I did a couple of TFCD shoots for experience and to expand my profile but they tend to be a PITA. The trouble is because it is free alot of models don't value it and will cancel just because they can't be bothered, or change the arrangements at the last minute.

I think paid assignments are treated a little more seriously but some models treat modelling as a hobby and don't take it at all seriously.

Posting a request for models in the forums can work well, especially if you have a clear concept. It also helps having some glamour shots in your MM profile.
