Outtake:

Taken two days too early. The red is actually hardly enhanced as the shot was taken toward the city of phoenix. The lights were this color over the 30 second exposure.

Almost considered it for the Zen challenge. I liked the minimalist nature of the shot, but didn't think it gave the proper "silent" feel...

I think that this one

grabs more attention, but that's just me. And you'd have had to remove the copyright banner of course or risk DQ.

Well this shot ended up at 5.996 after grabbing and losing a 6.x score a few times in the past week. Still, a personal high score so I'm happy.

So I was sitting on a ton of other airshow shots since I didn't think it would be cool to post them while having one in the challenge. Now I am curious if one of these other 'action' shots from the show would have scored higher? I have a pretty dismal telephoto, so I wasn't all that happy with how most of them turned out and ultimately submitted what I thought was the best of the bunch.

Some of my Action outtakes...

A trio of shots I considered for the challenge.

This is the colour version of the shot I went with..just felt that desaturating the image cut down the distractions and although there wasn`t a lot of eyecatching action in this shot..it had a classic soccer feel for me.

I don't know that this would have scored any higher but I like the sense of motion that the fixed objects give to this image. That probably sounds strange, but the roof and tree give some context and add a story to the image.

Many 'Airshow' shots are so static, cool to take I'm sure, but a lot of the story is left out when all you see is sky and planes.

I like the decision you went with. Seems like the best choice in image and processing.
