Before I discovered Noiseware Pro, I was getting a lot of rejects for noise. I redid some and they were accepted. However, occasionally, I still get rejected for noise after using NW. Do y'all have any tips/tricks for getting rid of noise? Here are two shots that were rejected. One I really liked and one is just a shot my friend asked me to take of his cat.
For the candy pic, I'm using a light tent with a 500w worklamp to the outside.
I've heard the phrase "neat imaged to death". Do some people run the pic through the noiseware software over and over and over until it's accepted?

Sometimes, the stock sites will find any excuse to reject something instead of just saying "we have a million cat pics, please no more"

i don't have experience with shutterstock specifically, but i do know that some places seem to confuse "noise" with "dirt and dust." for instance, in your candy photo i can see a couple of dust spots on the candy itself and the background too. they're not immediately noticable on a 72dpi web image, but if i were a stock buyer (which i am) and i bought something and then had to sit for 10 minutes cleaning it up i'd be a bit ticked.
so, maybe that's part of the issue. it's not "noise" per se but "crap on the image."
remember that there are no rulesets to follow with stock! clone stamp until your heart's content! :)

Im new to most of the post processing myself and find this type of info great. I also notice a few "spots" in the candy pic and just to make sure I am picking out what you are is one of them almost center image between the tip of the short yellow peice with white stripes and the red/blue one to the left of it? Then another just left of that one the yellow/white peice on top of the others?
I could probably pic out a lot more with my home monitor but the one I have at work has a terrible screen. |

I tend to agree with amandalore; microstock sites go through phases of ridiculously arbitary rejections and often seem to just pick a random reason from their default list - and "noise" seems to be near the top of the list.
On the other hand, I did once have a picture rejected (by iStockPhoto from memory) for not having enough noise - sometimes you really can't win :) |

not enough noise? Oh, that's a good one. :)
I've been cloning and repairing and ran the candy one thru NW a couple more times. I don't care so much about the cat..the owner is happy and bought an 8x10 so that's alright. It just seemed to be an odd rejection.
I'll let you know how the candy thing goes.
