This thread makes ribbons and challenges seem so insignificant.

I agree. This is disturbing.

I hope everything turns out for the best.

Daryl, et al - let me know if there's any way I can be of help.

Hoping this is just a (big) misunderstanding and he'll show up shortly.

I keep hoping he'll log in from wherever he is...

Have you guys considered checking with The Desert Botanical Gardens? I'm sure you did- it's just that he teaches classes there on weekends sometimes which I'm sure you know... just trying to rack my brain for anything helpful at all...

Crosses fingers everything is all right.
He is in my thoughts.
You know I always found his comments on photos incredibly insightful and very helpful, even though he has never commented on mine :-( I just hope I get the chance to tell him how much I have learnt from his comments and his amazing photography.

Anybody know if Steve frequents other forums, clubs or chat rooms? Even if he hasn't logged on lately, he mght have mentioned that he was going to go camping or something.

His Pbase account is linked earlier. :/

Police are on the lookout for his car.

Forest service is being notified to be on the look out for it.

They need to get a subpeona to get phone or credit card records and that is in process.

I've thought of driving around to places I know he goes, but there are so many it would almost be pointless and most that he would go to this time of year are hours away. We sent an email to the arboretum to look for his car. I'll contact the botanical garden as well.

Posting the info on other forums can't hurt. Feel free to do so.

Keep a look out for his car:

Lic plate#: 072-EEL
Silver 1998 Honda Accord

If you see it call 480-644-2211. THere is nothing saying he didn't leave arizona, he could be anywhere.

Funny side note, first time I met Steve in person was at a GTG at the zoo. About 20 minutes into the day he got lost...

I'm hoping to hear him say "jeeze guys why did you make such a big deal of this! And thanks for breaking my window."

I'll post more as I know more. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

You're a good friend, Daryl.

Daryl (or anyone else who knows Steve), does Steve have any medical conditions that could likely contribute to him becoming ill or passing out somewhere (diabetes, etc.) or could possibly speed up the ability for the authorities to search for him?

Yes, the police have been made aware, but we only have limited knowledge of his condition as he doesn't talk about it and doesn't like people fussing over him.

He's going to love all this...

yea I can just see him showing up...

"WHAT THE...! What is wrong with you people?!? I was in the bathroom! Can't a guy go to the bathroom without you people filing a missing persons report!?!"

Thus ends The Case of the Bad Fish Tacos

Well then; he would deserve a good scolding for not telling us where he was going:) He has a responsibility to his DPC family.

Thanks for all the info and hard work Daryl, Steve is very lucky to have a friend like you. I'm keeping up my prayers for him that he is ok, which he probably is. He'll come back and laugh at this thread and post a bunch of beautiful photos of his trip.

Would it be possible for the admins to *pin* this at the top of the front page forums list, so that if he just pops into to look at the FPage he will see it sraight away and respond? Just a thought;)
07/29/2006 11:43:37 PM · #71
That's a great idea! We'll have to send a note to the site council/admins to see if it's possible.

I was a police officer here in AZ a year or so ago. I will see what information I might be able to get tomorrow with the details LoudDog shared.

Oh god, I just heard about all this right now...I'm really worried.

Like, majorly worried.

I'll keep a lookout for his car, but I doubt I'll see it--but I'll keep a lookout for it.

bumping to keep this on the front page. Hoping we hear from Steve soon.

This is freaky. I assume he's not married or has a current significant other? Has he ever disappeared like this without telling any one before?
