We'll probably see him again in a few years, and he won't have aged a day.

Proof?

Excellent photojournalism Christine!

Did you happen to hear if they were doing any... uhhh... wierd sexual things to him?

Never mind. I'm sure when he comes gets back he'll tell us all about it, and he'll have lots of good photos too.

Dang, if he's out chasing another condor and not telling, well...

Anyhow, hope everything's okay.

Daryl,
Did you hear anything from Steve's son last night?
07/29/2006 12:45:57 PM · #30
We still haven't heard from Steve... let's keep this thread open in case he pops into the site from wherever he went!

I know Steve has a lot of friends here so I feel it only right to share all the information I have. I know how I'd feel...

The facts as we know it:
Steve was suppose to be at a pool party at our house Saturday the 15th and he did not show up.

We left phone messages on the 15th. No response.

His cell phone had been going straight to voicemail for some time, but now (as of monday or tuesday I think) his phone says all circuits are busy.

We IM'd steve on the 22nd asking if he was okay, as we were worried since we hadn't heard from him. No response.

We were contacted by Steve's son late Sunday afternoon (23rd) as he could not get a hold of Steve and was starting to be concerned.

Last known contact with Steve from anyone known was Thursday the 20th over IM.

Steve was not at home the morning of Sunday the 23rd as the police did a welfare check.

DPC shows he logged in or refreshed his screen on Sunday about 8:30 (5:30pm arizona time) from his normal IP address. This throws a lot off, so if any network guru can explain this, please PM me so we can talk.

Steve was not home Sunday the 23rd about 7pm Arizona time because we were there. I shut the power off to his house, to log him off Yahoo messenger so we could see if he looged back on. He has not logged back into messenger as of today.

Odd that he was not home in the morning or evening but he logged into DPC, from home, in between on Sunday???

Monday (24th) the fire dept broke into his house and he was not in the house and his car was gone. They noticed a bug bomb had been let off, which would explain being gone for a few days.

Thursday (27th) a missing persons report was filed with the Mesa PD.

That's what we know to date.

If anyone has any more info, PLEASE let me know. Any details can help explain some of the gaps. DId he tell anyone plans to go shooting anywhere?

This is worrying. Sometimes people just need to get away from everything but as you know Steve I guess this is out of character. I hope he is ok and turns up wondering what all the fuss is about!

this sounds pretty serious. Hope everything turns out ok.
Does his car have on-star or anything like that so it can maybe be traced? I don't know if that is possible, but was worth a thought. Has anyone driven out to some of his favorite shooting locations? I'm not trying to meddle, just offering some things to try.

could anyone else have used his computer trying to find him maybe? I could imagine someone checking his e-mail on Sunday or checking his browser history to see if there was any clue as to where he could have gone. That would have logged him into DPC if he has cookies enabled.

I hadn't followed this thread too closely because I didn't realize how serious this is. I'm concerned now too.

Oh, and can you call the cell phone company to find out why his phone is no longer working? Maybe the police could track him through that. If it has e911 service (most modern cell phones do) it shold be easy enough to locate.

Daryl if there is anything I can do let me know.

Daryl,

Thanks for sharing this information. I've been very concerned about him since the beginning of this thread. He thinks a great deal of you and Tina, and dedicated a whole paragraph, in a recent PM (July 09), to expressing how much he values your friendship and enjoys hiking and taking pictures with you.

There was no mention of an upcoming trip; and I find it disturbing that he didn't show up at your house and then set off a bug bomb as though he had planned a trip. That doesn't jive with my instincts. Has he been hanging around with someone who could have access to his home?

Have the police done a full investigation, yet? I'd think they would want to search his hard drive for clues. Understandably, you may not be able to share such information. I only hope that they are doing everything possible to find him.

Please keep us posted.

Edit: Looks like we are all thinking alike.

Wow, I hope everything turns out okay here. It's comforting to know that he has friends that care this much and are taking measures to make sure he's alright. Hopefully, he's just on a little "escape" vacation. Please keep us posted.

I don't know if this will help, but there's a local news forum for Mesa, AZ here.

Perhaps it's possible that someone in the community might know where he is?

I didn't start a topic b/c I figured it would be better coming from someone who knows him better and is local, but maybe this might be another avenue to pursue.

Best wishes to all involved, especially Steve.

I already called the cell phone company but, understandably, they cannot share any information with me. They will share information with the police though, so hopefully that is in the works already.

Good link Sara,

I got myself all worked up last night when I started checking the news in his area. There's a serial killer running around.

Thanks Tina,

I hope they are treating his house like a crime scene and doing the whole fingerprint and fiber test thing. I'd be curious to know if his fingerprints were on the bug bomb and the keyboard.

Are the police there overtaxed? If so, I wonder if a PI would be able to dedicate more time?

P.S. I'd be willing to dedicate my time to getting the word out, via the internet. Missing person forums etc. Let me know if there is anything I can do.

Well, right now we're taking it one step at a time and letting the police do their job - I have all the confidence in the world in our trusted protectors. :-)

Thanks for all the ideas and well wishes on Steve's behalf...

Does Steve have a job other that photography? If so did anyone contact his employer? Has anyone driven to local spots he shoots from to see if his car is there?

Hope everything's ok... threads like this really get me..

What do you guys mean with a "bug bomb"?

Aerosol insecticide foggers. You need to leave the house to use them.

He does, but I believe it is freelance work... no employer to contact unfortunately.
