Was editing allowe in the freedom challenge? There are a lot of photos with filters and effects?

Did I miss something..

I was thinking the same thing. Perhaps they should post a few pictorial examples of what qualifies and what doesn't (on the 'rules page'). It would help in clarifying what is or is not acceptable. Thanks, I thought I was the only one 'missing something'!

I know, I wanted to submit an inverted image, but is that allowed? I think so as it's not a filter and is applied to the whole image!

I think there are a number of shots with Hue/Sat channel drop-outs. If an image has lots of yellow, green and sky with a US flag for example, you can desaturate the Green, Cyan and Yellow channels leaving the flag pretty much normal strength.

This, and the invert, are quite legal.

Is it okay to rate the photo a couple of degrees in photoshop and then crop? I wear glasses and sometimes missing getting horizontal lines horizontal by a degree or two.

Rotation is legal; you can drag out the crop-box marquee and grab a corner handle and rotate it into the final position to perform both operations at once.

I'm a bit confused about this action. I tried clicking on the crop tool, but when I try rotating by grabbing the corner it didn't work. I'm using PS 6. Am I doing something wrong?

Here's how I rotate a photo in Photoshop:

Click on the Eyedropper tool and hold the mouse down. You should see the tool expand. One of the options is a ruler (Measure). Select that one.

Use the Measure tool to drag along a line in your image that SHOULD be perfectly horizontal but isn't, like the horizon.

From the Image menu, select Rotate Canvas, then "Arbitrary."

The field will already be filled in with the correct amount to rotate the line you just measured to horizontal. Hit enter.

Now you can crop as you please. I usually use Marquee and then select Crop from the Image menu; I find the Crop tool annoying. But that's just me.

What GeneralE meant, though, is that if you have a portion of your photo selected with the Crop tool, you can use the mouse to rotate the crop. Put your mouse a little bit *outside* the corner and you should see it change to a small two-ended arrow. That will let you rotate if you drag. It's not the corner handle itself you drag, but this little arrow that shows up just outside.
