I had voted these considerably higher than they finished. Anyone else have these selected to place higher?

Feel free to add your own "surprises" for this challenge. ;^)

This is my own image but I can't understand how a outstanding picture like this could only score 5.457 and end up in 146'th spot.

I have over 50 votes that give me 1, 2 or 3

And I just thought it was a funny picture.

I gave you a 5 on it.......the shadows across the back side just seemed to harsh, and something about the perspective made the person look pasted into the scene. I did like the idea - was very funny.

"2 flashes"??? LOL!

I didn't vote on this one, but I would have voted it highly both for the humour and the technical aspects. Some people here can't bare bottoms:)

Calling it a outstanding image is I think just trying to keep a straight face, I added something to the description.

But the fact is that I can not understand how people can vote it down so bad for just having a fu**ing a$$crack in the picture.

Its not like it is distastefull like many nudies I have seen in here.

Oh well I will not try to stir up more shit about the picture, I just think it is lame that sissies vote down pictures becouse of the a$$crack.

Everybody on this web site has different tastes Bolti. We just need to accept them! It was a funny photo and nicely shot. As was mentioned, the shadows on the guys back were probably a little harsh!

LOL I didn't even notice the shadow, but it makes it even funnier - it looks like his shadow is trying the scratch an itch in that place that shall not be mentioned?:))

I don't respect people that can't handle a white but :P

Oh well, I just thought I had to speak up for myself becouse this is my own favourite shot of all time that I have taken.

And it got creamed for including a white but.

I made this comment, tongue in cheek (pardon the pun)

the beach is nice, but there's a distracting ugly man in the way! ;-) looking at a man's butt doesn't help me here...

I was kidding...

I was dissapointed with mine. It wasn't a spectacular photo by far, and it was an interpretation of the theme (it said "*At* the beach", not "The beach"), but I felt it deserved at least a little bit better than it got. Hell, I'd have been happier had it broken 5.

The 1's and 2's with no explanation are frustrating as hell.

= 5.597 ? really that's all?
I either have horrible taste, or suck as a photog - maybe both. I really thought this one would pull me back to a 6.

Feel free to add your own "surprises" for this challenge. ;^)

Maybe I should have stated - what "surprises" did you have on images other than your own? ;^)

Usually after voting I'll take a peek and see how my votes stacked up against the majority. Frequently there will be an image or two that I just wonder how in the world could this image (pick one) have scored so much lower than how I saw it.

Obviously it's all personal opinion...
...anybody else have any "surprises" out there this time? ;^)

I am satisfied with the ratings that this image have got, except for so many 1s, 2s, 3s and 4s :) But what bothers me are the two DNMC comments. I thought this image fully meets the challenge. I went to the nearest place that could qualify as *beach* according to the challenge description. The image has water, a land bordering water, and some subject at that place. Just wanted to know what others thought about this image *meeting the challenge* requirement.

Left a comment for idnic, manishk, Shutterpug and chimericvisions. I'll try to catch a few more of the Beach photos as they show up through the day, as I didn't vote in the Lines challenge.

Edit: Added a couple of more names.

I can understand why this:

is basically not pertinent to the beachy-weachy-holiday-woliday-cutey-thingy-wingy that the challenge title tends to inspire.

I don't understand so well why this:

which has all of those attributes to the nth power, ends 76th.

Sad to see this beautiful photo at 64th.

I'm with idnic. That surfer shot is GREAT. The composition is spot on, the surfer really jumps out of the picture the way a subject should and it has a very nice feel as well.

To me this image had the feeling of being overly composed (i.e. setup). First thing I thought of was how long did the kid end up standing in the water? I can hear it now..."ok, move" (to make ripples)..."wait" (for ripples to go away)..."ok, let's try it again"...

;^)

Fully meets the challenge according to its description, in my opinion. I personally felt that photographs of just beaches or water, lovely as they were and though many scored very highly, didn't exactly adhere to the letter of the description. I didn't score low for those though.
