I was tossing up between this one and the one I entered

and for all those people who made comments such as , a lightpole on a beach?? and I can't see the beach, here is the proof that the pelican was actually at the beach
I'm really not sure where else you would find a pelican?

they are both great shots karma but I agree your outtake has an edge over the other one.

Having been to the panhandle of Florida, the Dominican Republic, and the Virgin Islands in the past two months, I've got lots of pics that would have worked well for this challenge. Some of them were taken in the Virgin Islands the day before this challenge started.

Here's one from the Dominican Republic.

Submission:

Outtakes:

The "model" is Miss Taterbug

The submission and outtake III were candids. Outtake I was a test shot but the bugs were really bad. II & IV were her ideas. PP not completed on IV.

Here are my submission:
and here are two of my outtakes:

I found it a bit difficult to choose between them, but have probably chosen the right shot, at least it ribboned.

creator of this beachparty decor is Bas Zuyderland
he tried to express that certain mood to be in a crowd and still kind of isolated wich can be very strong especially on a beach
think he did a great job on that

I think you made the right choice. The colors are better in your submission and bring more of the focus on the boat than outtakes.

I took over 50 pictures of the boat & beach over 2 days at every point in the sunrise. Some where equally as good as my(and I am still getting over this :)) 8th place finish. Some needed more PP then the rules would allow.
Anyway here are a few that didn't make the cut.

This was my final choice:

This would have done very well. Great shot.

People really said that? Where else would you find pelicans? At the mall?
Sheesh - This was a great shot by the way.

And entry

You know, I usually listen to my wife about choosing shots, but everybody else seemed to favor the sillouette. I have regrets now. I was shooting for a 7.0, but came up quite a bit short.

The entry:

The outtake:

I guess the title was too esoteric for people to get too...
