There are many people making a lot of money. It's a pyramid company but not one of those evil, cursed-for-all-time-walking-mummy-type pyramids. More like a Mister-Rogers-sells-dish-soap-to-the-neighbors-and-drives-a-Hummer-type pyramid.

The products are excellent and the up-front money is minimal.

The word "pyramid" and "scam" are usually very closely associated.

Another thing you can do is purchase something from Rhode Island Novelty and sell it. They have a very low minimum. On the 4th of July a guy was walking along the beach selling glowing necklaces and toys like crazy. Again, the markup is 100%. If you buy in bulk, you can sell some of these things to gift shops, too. I did well with all of the pirate stuff. The possibilities are unlimited.

here's my 14 year olds plan -

Buys glow sticks - the necklace kind - in bulk around .40 each
Gets a walking vendor pass for concerts and fireworks shows
Drags me along as the money guy
Sells them for $2 each or 3 for $5 until 40 minutes before the show - then it's $1 each

His secret is he cracks a whole case of them at a time - so they are REALLY bright - people come like moths to the flame

On the 4th he took in $250 in an hour and a half

He's a smart kid. Did he get his from Rhode Island Novelty?

I mentioned Christmas Ornaments, before. This is the perfect time to make these and get them in the shops.

A couple of years ago I painted sand dollars with St. Augustine landmarks and wrote "St. Augustine 2004". Ran a piece of ribbon through the hole and sold them to local shops and on ebay. My friend got involved and we designed a whole line of specialty ornaments with themes like snowmen, holly flowers, Santa Clause and Baby's First Christmas. We personalized them with a paint pen. She sold them to everyone she knew. We earned hundreds of dollars.

I have another friend who paints dried starfish like candy canes. She can't make them fast enough.

Edit: You don't have to limit this to your local area. Ex. lighthouses are so popular. All you need is a good photo to work with for your design. Then email an image of your ornament to the shopowners to get the orders. Again, unlimited possibilities. I'd do this again if I had the workspace.

I talked to a guy who went door to door with number stencils and cans of spray paint. For five bucks he would paint your house number on the curb in flourescent paint so that it could be easily seen by emergency vehicles, pizza delivery guys, drive-by gunmen, etc.

He made a ton of cash one summer.

I used to work for a company here in north Chicago that did a bit of everything from lawn maintance to party/event managing.

I worked in the valet parking section and we used to go all over the Chicagoland area (even up to Wisconsin once or twice) to private parties at houses or even events at museums or other companies. Usually I worked just Friday and Saturday nights from about 4 to whenever the even ended.

We made minimum wage plus split tips. We ran A LOT but got to drive sweet cars too...never forget the first time I drove one with bullet proof glass lol. Some places fed us and gave us extra tips at the end if we did well. The lowest I made in tips on one job was $1.00 but most of the time we left with about $35 each...of course there was the night that the guy tipped us with $100.00..split 4 ways it was sure to be a good night. The foreman made more of course but they also didn't get the exercise lol.

If I had more time here in Chicago I would probably go back to working for them...not a bad gig if you can get it.

Good luck and congrats on the baby.

i worked with a women whose husband was a secret service agnet (presidential detail too, not watching the dog or the wife). Anyway, the word is 10 yeras a go iraqi dinars were worth about what a dollar is worth, and one day will return to that level. they are currently 1c on the dollar.

So buy a suitcase of dinars and hold them. I got one, a 250 dinar note. Looks like something i could print at home, and then have a suitcase of them. got it as a tip...have considered making copies to give as tips..would save me 20% on eating out, right?

What's the law on counterfeiting foreign currency?

I used to run a printing press for a small family business. The owner's sons also worked in the shop.

While cleaning one of the teenager's rooms, their mother found a pile of counterfeit $5.00 bills stuffed inside a speaker. It turns out that the kids were printing money (just black ink on white paper) and cashing it in change machines at the car wash.

I'm guessing the sensors are more sensitive, these days.

I'm working for Melaleuca right now doing animation and video work for their big convention. No scam here.

If you don't mind sacrificing your relationships with all your friends and family for money - and working your butt off finding other people to help you build your business (people to sponser) this works. Every year I do this I have a list of 200 more people that have made it to the $20,000 a month range and are being awarded new cars for their efforts.

MLM companies have created a significant number of millionaires in their history - but you have to be wired right (or wrong some may argue) to make it go.

I have five other aquantences that are in the $10,000 to $70,000 a month range with Xango. They have no friends outside of the company, but they don't seem to mind.

boy I can't believe no one has plugged stock photography yet. if you are interested in photography it is a great way to make a few extra $$. Granted you will have to wait a little longer to get the pay check than if you had a garage sale, but it is decent money and fun.

Here are a few to get you started

and if you are not into micro stock photography you can always check out
Alamy

However after a few thousand images I have come to the conclusion that even though you sell each image for a lot less on the micros, you may significantly more sales (i do anyhow), so $/image is actually better on the micros.
