I should add that After was the quickie photo essay editing job, not what I would do for DPC. In Advanced Editing I would burn the sky a bit, especially on the right side.

Original - I did NOT rotate - Hence, the title.
Entry - Did nothing - no enhancement needed.

This was the one challenge that SO frustrated me that I actually cleaned out my portfolio here and wanted to NEVER come back!
But, as you can see, I'm online AGAIN trying to get my point across that my camera ''auto-rotates'' and I shouldn't have been penalized for that. I think the shot was a great one with fabulous colors!!
So, I am giving myself a pat on the back tonight, for a job well done!!
Thanks for letting me rant.

I am fine now.

I was thrilled that the original did well, but I like the edited version even more. I'm into hyperprocessing right now, although this shot didn't need a lot of it. The sky really was an amazing set of colors naturally.

Edit: Looking at the two side by side now, I could see that I used WAY too much NI in the edit. Redid the editing without NI and reposted.

I was so busy during this challenge and only managed about 15 minutes to devote to a shot. It has been really hot and after cleaning stables it only gave me a few minutes to get some shots before the horse flies carried the horses away and the humidity wilted us all and I had to bring them in LOL. To top it all it was overcast!!! Yeah Yeah excuses excuses LOL. I rather liked the plant in the foreground, I thought it gave the shot a bit of depth.

Not my best shot by far but I was having withdrawals as I havent been able to enter anything for a while so decided to do it anyway just so I could press the Update button and get my fix

I'm curious... why do you think you were penalized? None of the comments on your image allude to voters thinking about voting lower due to the rotation of the image.

It got only a few low votes (below a four) and while I would personally disagree with the number of 4's it got, I would also disagree with the number of 4's that the first place ribbon winner received as well. But that's just the way it goes... voters spend their votes they way they see the image and how it affects them.

David,
In answer to your question of why did I think I was penalized? Because, as soon as the challenge was open to vote, a forum was started and someone mentioned that "there sure were going to be some DNMC if it is a portrait and not a landscape." Then the whole forum became this place going on and on about portrait vs. landscape, auto-rotate IN camera and other topics. But it just upset me that even tho no one had even started to view the images, they were already getting DNMC from some people. That's why I named my photo "Let's get this ''straight'', I DID NOT ROTATE!" Lousy title, I know, but I tried to save the pic someway. You are right in saying that "None of the comments on your image allude to voters thinking about voting lower due to the rotation of the image." True, but the voters who DIDN'T comment probably just gave a low vote and moved on without commenting. I do appreciate the comments tho and chose to re-post the image here so I could let folks know how I felt.
Thanks for commenting too!

When I read about the challenge, I told myself I was going to set my
in-camera sharpness, saturation & contrast up, then forgot to - crap.

Hey, thanks! I liked the lightening of the water and boats in the edit, but you may be right - the sky isn't quite the same. Maybe I'll have to play with the masking a bit more and even it out. My edit was sort of a quick job :-)
