| is there really a such thing as a wind filter because on one of my pictures (should be easy to guess) someone said that the cheesy wind filter killed the picture and there really was wind so i'm just confused??? |

They may be referring to the motion blur filter in many post processing programs?

You can make probably apply a filter in post-processing that makes it look like it's windy. There is are fog filter available to put on your camera though.

although i did use something that made it look a little like ice coming off it, it was a setting of some sort many people have used it

I suppose you could smear vasline on your UV filter from left to right and create a "wind" effect... not that I would... LOL

I was the one who posted that comment because your photo looks exactly like a photo that has had the photoshop "wind" filter applied to it. If it really was windy then I apologize, but the effect still looks like it was applied with photoshop - I only deducted one point from the score I gave you for it because I believe I still liked your picture very much.

I'm sure my son isn't expecting any kind of adjustment in scoring. It's just that when he asked me what a wind filter was, I shrugged and said I dunno. So while I was out on a shoot today, he took it upon himself to find out. :-)
We probably shouldn't discuss specific pictures during voting, but since the subject was brought up, let me just say that the only processing done on his picture was the conversion from raw (with what may be an unusual "highlights" setting on it) and the addition of the border. I did both of those steps for him, but he's gonna have to start doing it all on his own!
