The local San Antonio TV station has a video on Wedding Photogs not giving the photos to the brides after wedding. I'm not sure how to get the link to work. If anyone can do it please fix it for me. AND NO I don't think this is a DPC guy .... I hope!

If you want to put a clickable link in a post:

When you're compositing your post, use the fourth (4th) button from the left next to "Message:" (the one with the world icon on it). Type (or copy/paste) the address, click on "OK", type in the text to click on (description, name, whatever), click on "OK" one more time, and you should have a clickable link.

Hey Thanks Ursula. Is there a way to have just that video come up. I think as they add video to their main first page it will drop off and won't be found. I couldn't come up with a url just for that particular video. That would be the biggest help. This may help other DPC'rs see that people are watching all of us and something like this hurts all of us.
Thanks

You know, I don't know. I tried finding an address for the popup video that has the story, but couldn't find it.

Does anyone know if this is possible (to link the video popup directly)?

Sometimes it's not easy to get just the video stream, these websites do rely on advertising to cover the hosting costs. I found the video quite easy and was shocked that a guy would do this, all the hard work is done, he just has to print the pics the brides want and be done with it. I have done a few weddings and have not been overwhelmed to not take two years to finish the job.
hopefully he wont be in business for long

Thanks David, hope this helps the DPC Wedding Photogs and reminds us what not to do.

$700?
cheap brides, and i suppose the photog found out how much work it really is and folded up shop.

And the reporter saying don't pay upfront - 100% of all photogs i know collect 100% before the wedding day. Way too many brides/couples don't come up with the cash afterwards.

The report didn't cover anywhere near enough facts to draw any conclussions about the photographer. The contracts where not discussed, and without knowing the content of the contract it is impossible to know if the photog is responsible for supplying anything more than proofs. For instance, the fees quoted are fairly cheap, I would not be surprised if that fee was for time and proofs with prints extra.

It was also not surprising the photog was no longer at the addresses, they would not likely have been the subject of the report if they had been present.

Overall, a very bad job of reporting -- very one-sided, with only enough facts presented to support that side.

a news station sensationalizing a minority incident to improve ratings?

I'm shocked.

Thanks for reminding me why I stopped watching the news.

Agreed, very poor reporting indeed. Left with the lack of evidence the story has produced, I feel I'm siding with the photog.

I personally won't shoot without money upfront. Sorry, not gonna happen.

I also agree... that story was very one sided.

When I shoot a wedding, I have it my contract that the wedding must be paid in full before I will shoot it. For prints, I have they must pay me at least 50% before I will even order the prints. The other 50% is due when the order arrives.

I think you will be hard pressed to find a photographer that will let you pay for everything after the wedding.

There should've been more research in this "investigation" as to what the contract says and as to what was expected with the money that they paid.
