You have only entered one photo. I would recommend entering more often. I have been all over on score... 6.832 and second place in the black and white challenge down to scored at or below 4. I find my scores tend to be a little higher if I think out the composition a little ahead of time. (Although you would not know it by my most recent scores. I am in kind of a slump and need to come back again.) Keep on shooting!!

I'm an IT guy who got into this as a means of doing something creative and is now well on his way down the slippery slope of photography addiction...

Yes! I am a very well paid and wildly successful wedding and portrait photographer. I have a state of the art studio in Marylebone and I'm booked all the way through 2008.

I have an Olympus Evolt E-500 and two lenses. I am not a photographer, I am an attorney.

I'm a retired professional photographer, and I used to teach photography as well, at workshops and at the University of California, in San Diego. But now I'm just another, self-indulgent hobbyist, and I like it that way :-)

Perhaps you need to consider looking at another insurance agent. I have all my gear covered under my house insurance.

Damn Xray technicians always have to show off. When are you moving to Alaska? Do they have/need Xray techs in AK?

Actually, I was just looking at the ASRT website and it appears that Alaska is among the highest paying states for techs. I was looking because I will officially be a CT Tech starting Aug. 1st and wanted to make sure my starting salary was decent. It was a little low for NY but still worth doing since I'm going straight to CT out of x-ray school. :) My friends and I like to call ourselves "bone photographers." Of course, we have also been informed that a radiologic technologist is a career and not a profession. Apparantly in the healthcare field a professional is only someone with a 4 year degree related to their chosen discipline.

Photography is just a hobby for me, I'm a new member here so no pics in my gallery, but I'll get some up soon. I know that I went overkill on my camera and lenses, but that's how I am, GO BIG OR GO HOME is my motto. :) I'm a US Air Force Officer stationed overseas, I try to take as many photos as I can. Mainly sports and automotive related.

I am a stagehand for Bill Graham Presents and work rock and roll shows. I realized I started taking photos almost exactly three years ago. I am also a musician nearly on the same level as photography, i.e. A high level hobby that I can occasionally make very little money in. Mostly I am broke but happy. I also hae a degree in industrial engineering that I have yet to use. I have some sweet 500 watt halogen lights, 50 mm lens, some white foamcore, the heat reflector from my car, a circular polarizer I bought used for $15, my dad's 35 year old tripod and and pretty good understanding of photography techniques. I am a hobbyist.

Ah, but you're a damn good hobbyist, Joe. :-)

I was taking pictures today and a lady said "Ah, one of those serious photographers, huh?" I told her no, I'm just a hobbyist, but I'm old enough that I can afford the good toys. :-)

I'm at a software conference, but I got chased away from a movie shoot in Dallas. Does that make a papparazzi? :)

Congrats on your completion of the CT program! I've worked in CT also and enjoyed it, although working in the ER as a truama tech will always be my favorite position.
Alaska pays very well - but then they have a higher cost of living to go with it - yet there is no state income or sales tax. I think all in all I would come out ahead in AK. Just have to wait for the kiddo to finish college in 3 years.

I am another one of those computer programmer (not my offical title but easiest way to translate it). Durring the summers I also teach photography a couple of hours a month for the city at the local zoo. In the winter I sell CD of my zoo photography to schools sending their kids to the local zoo.

No big lights, well except those from Homedepot. Someday, real soon now, I will have website up and sell my cd over the web, oh and get involved in stock too... Well maybe next year.

I’m a restaurant manager/maybe owner when my dad retires. I also shoot weddings here and there along with their engagement and bridal photos. So I guess I have made enough to say I am a professional photographer…but maybe not the best. So sure…I am one…on the low end.
