I am definitely not a pro. I have sold images and done some portraits, but I don't have the big lights, etc. I just like taking pictures around my house and town. Also, vacations and lots of pets and family.

I'm about 35% a photographer. I play at it all the time, and actually work at it when I'm at university. I tell myself that I'm a real one to justify new toys. Maybe one day I'll get there fully. :-)

I'm an accountant in an investment bank... Can't get much less "professional photographer" than that. Not even involved in an artistic profession.

just a stay at home mom who likes to take pictures and is learning to get better. id like to be a "photographer" someday. but im not yet really. no one wants my work or anything. :(

Software developer here. I am nowhere near what would be considered a professional, but I'm aiming to make some money out of this 'hobby' in the future.

I am a lawyer who occasionally gets out of work in time to take photographs. I suppose that makes me a "professional" and a "photographer", but not at the same time...!

I'm retired and I shoot for my own pleasure. I have big lights and sometimes use them. Been published and have sold some stuff. Belong to a camera club and like to help educate whenever someone wants help.

I'm a marketing director (ex journalist) who sometimes uses lights (product shots and portraits) and filters (mostly polarising) and sometimes gets them published. Long term goal is definitely full-time photos, but in the meantime keep hanging around places like dpchallenge and LEARN!!!
Bottom line is: I LOVE taking photos!
Hope you do too...

HEY! I'm a geologist and IT geek. I use a lot of geochemical analyses (52 elements+) to make pretty plans & sections, so I have a healthy fear of geochemistry, but I'm no geochemist.

GEOLOGISTS UNITE! :-D

I'm a joker, I'm a smoker, I'm a midnight toker....not really.

However, I am a cowboy, part time brain surgeon, freelance CIA field agent, a now and then airline pilot, and full time dad.

Every now and then I get a chance to take a picture of something that may, or may not fit into a challenge.

I'm a Systems Engineer/Systems Architect/Network Engineer and Admin/Mail Admin/PBX Admin and on and on...

Getting out and taking pictures is my escape from the corporate world, and it worked wonders until they figured out I could take pics for their Tech and User manuals. Hey they bought studio lighting and backdrops so it's all good.

I am not a professional. I am a hobbist. I have some lights and filters, but those things don't make one a professional.

I'm a starving professional. Meaning, I get paid for work (semi-regular basis), but if I had to feed my family, we would be starving. :)

Most of the contests I enter (local ones) consider me a professional, so I get to compete against the real ones.
