So Im considering buying an Aquapac for my Rebel XT (flexible waterproof housing). Has anyone used one?? Praise? Problems? Comments? Thanks

Hard to believe, but maybe it's true that nobody here has used an Aquapac.
I am replying because nobody else did. I haven't used the aquapac because I just bought the Fantasea FD70 underwater housing for my D70. My reason for not going with the flexible system is that I was concerned that at deeper depths, the flexible housings get compressed so much that it is difficult to operate the camera controls.
However, anything other than the flexible housings are expensive, usually a lot more than the camera that it houses. The Aquapac seems like an economical alternative. |

what are you going to use it for? Kayaking? - definately go for it. Scuba Diving? - I'd save up for the hard shell.
Edit, either way get insurance on your camera ;)

Just curious, what will you be using it for? Says it's only good to 15 feet. It would be nice to have to play in the rain, but not sure I'd use it for any sort of diving.

I don't know anything about them, but you can probably get some good advice on ScubaBoard's Underwater Photography forum. Lots of experienced underwater photogs there.

I have used an aquapac with my D70 once to make pictures on the beach on a very wet day. I did not like it. The cover is just too clumsy and the camera lost all its ergonomy.
I now use a ziploc bag and a rubber band for such occasions.

Ditto me. I cut a little half-moon out of the bottom of a 2-gallon ziplok baggie and stretch it around the lens. That's good for on-shore in wet weather. I like the looks of the aquapac for kayaking and such, though...

| I used a small aquapac once with my old (and relatively inexpensive) olympus 550... it was okay, no water leakage, which was what i was most concerned with. the photos weren't great, but most of mine aren't. :) |
