Just got this on my Bokeh entry. "We need proof that your submission is valid. Please waste no time in submitting proof."

OK, according to some I'm supposed to maybe feel flattered that someone actually thought it worth to doubt its validity. But between my score which started promisingly at 6.5 this morning to a 5.8 now, it's just not been a very pleasant surprise. I'm about to submit my original for proof of course and even did a "quick and dirty" to retrace my editing steps to check if I didn't cross the line somewhere. Only problem is I'm not sure I can provide all the steps coherently 'coz 1) when I edit, I play around on the permitted PS tools without noting down values and 2) my software is in French and I'm not sure I'll be able to give the right English equivalent.

Does anyone have any ideas? (I really don't want it to be DQed as it's my first entry after a long while and using my new camera).

I think you should be fine. If you can give SC approximately what you did and they can get close to your edit, it should be validated.

Just put down what you can remember. If they need more clarification, they'll ask. If you need help with translations, you could always ask in the forums...there are a number of other bilingual people.

just be sure you have the unedited version submitted

Unless you have a pretty radical trick in PP you can be pretty general. I think SC will let you know if they can't get close enough themselves or if there is something in the picture which is causing them concern.

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys! I'm definitely submitting the unedited version. Keeping my fingers crossed!

BTW, does anyone know what the English term for "lueur interne" is?

lueur interne = lit. internal gleam. Something like Diffuse Glow maybe? Where on the menu bar is it?

OK, proof and steps submitted. Thanks all for trying to help. Hopefully it'll come to nothing but if it does get DQed, I hope I'm given a specific reason. It's just nerve-racking at the moment as I'm trying to think what I could have done unknowingly to deserve a possible DQ.

Hi Rikki, this does look pretty interesting but I noticed its for the CS2 version. I'm using 7 and can't find the same screen. Am I not looking in the right place (I looked under Edit - Preferences)?

Actually I work in a french company and my PS7 was installed with office and windows software. So you could say, I had my first real exposure of PS in French which makes understanding rather complicated sometimes but I manage. :)

Noticed that my score has really drastically dropped which has never happened before. Does the validation for possible DQ have anything to do with it? I know it doesn't make sense but I started out in the mid 6 with almost 40 votes and now it's almost to a mid 5 in just one day. Has there been a leak to the trolls?

Voters have been harsh all day to quite a few photogs.

Sigh* Almost makes me wish I hadn't turn on the scores so early in the day.

No, a validation request has nothing to do with it. Scores usually drop on the first day anyway, after the initial enthusiasm. It's not abnormal for a score to drop that much in one day.

With my score I'm having in 30 Seconds or more, I'd be fortunate to get a DQ... LOL

LOL you're not snatching my brown ribbon away, I've set my mind on it, or rather the voters think I deserve it, isn't that sweet?

Not much to worry. While editing steps are essestial they matter most when intricate editing has taken place. Most experts can arrive at the current end result of most b.e. steps. If there is an infraction it will be picked up otherwise all will be fine.
