does this final version look pro or overdone? Obviously the one on left is original.

Thanks!]

very nice indeed. i think some burning on her right arm top edge, to bring it out of the background, would help. well done!

looks out of focus (probablly motion blur).
very distracting IMO

her hand is blocking her face, which is in shadow form her leg. move the lights and reshoot.
your PP has blown out the arm of her shirt on the backmost arm - i liked that better in the original.

I think the background and the saturation is the right idea, but agree about the blown highlights and motion blur.

I like the motion blur. it's not a pose, its an actual kick so there is nothing she can do about the arm - unless you know how to get a 8 year old to get her leg up that high while worrying about where her arms are?

Is the blown out right arm really a problem? I noticed that it happened but when i painted it back in on the mask it didn't look as good overall.

I mean...doesn't high key tend to have some blown out parts in it? Not that this was supposed to be high key, I'm just saying...

There is no motion blur on her face...or very little...only her leg should look out of focus.

I think it looks good, except for the kick itself, her form seems kind of sloppy.

I'm sorry, but don't they call these people trolls?

I don't think name calling is necessary.

Sorry Cindi but xantangummi's comment was wildly inappropriate.

^^

Thank you, I thought so too. I didn't know making rude comments about 8 year olds was tolerated here?

I'm sorry. It is a great shot but it would have been better if the model didn't look like she was doing aerobics(extended wrist, bent knee, flailing arms and open hands).

That seems like a harsh critique, many styles of karate use open hands, and every one I have heard of stess that knees should be bent. Straight legs could cause more damage to you than the person you are kicking.

If you as people to comment on a photo, they are going to comment on the contents, not just on how it was exposed.

And in a photo with one model and a white bg, the models pose is a key element.

Have you considered that the comment may have come from someone very familiar with the technique being demonstrated, and may very well have been made in good faith, discussing the fine points of the move?
Whether that is the case or not (I suspect it is) the comment contained no personal attack, yet you responded with one.
I'd ask all forum participants to assume good faith on the part of posters, and refrain from personal attacks including name-calling. Please see the forum posting rules.

Thanks!

She's 8 years old. I'm sure at that age people don't have Bruce Lee's form. Comment on the photograph and not the kid's technique.

I say rotate the kid and take the photo from the other side, and edit it better, and it will 'kick' ass ;-)

In my experience you are going to break fingers if you have your hands open. About the bent knees part you might be right, its easy to strain yourself if youre not warm enough(or are kicking too high), although where I come from its considerd sloppy to be cold.

If you think that's trolling, I hope for your sake you never post in a forum about freeriding or BMX.

Have you considered that I am the instructor of the girl, and a WTF Taekwondo athlete that coaches at the national level? Do you participate in olympic Taekwondo? Could you do that when you were 8 years old? Do you have any pictures of your expertise? I asked for comments on the picture, not comments on the subject, lets leave it at that.
