Hi all
Does any body have a clear cut answer as to using the D70 batteries with the D200?
I know there's a 3rd contact on the D200 battery but I was told that is was just for additional info like battery life, ect

Yeah, you can use the D200 batteries in the D70 but not the other way around.

Do they have them in stock in Ottawa? I'll be in Ottawa for 3 days next week. I'm hoping to at least admire them (and maybe, just maybe, I can convince my husband that I really really "NEED" a new body ... ) |

D70 Batteries will run the d200 but you need to modify the casing.
the groove at the top of the battery next to the terminals is a different shape and depth to the d70.
with the help of my Dremel multi pro tool, this was easily modified by carefully grinding some of plastic casing away on the d70 battery to make the groove roughly the same size as the d200 battery... took no more than a few miinutes and works a treat. !
saves a few $$$
