I've been hearing a lot about this lens...I'm doing portrait photography as a part-time business....was this a good choice?

is this a macro lens???
Does it have a macro mode on it or is it macro the entire time or what? I got it for portraits, not for macro photography...whats the deal--i just noticed that it says macro.

| I was just out doing some macro shooting with my Tam28-75 today. At 75mm, you can focus to within about 5 inches of your subject. That ain't bad. I'll post a sample a little later. |

Likely like my nikon 60mm macro...Always macro...it just means that you can position the lens very close 3-5 inches from your subject. Doesn't need a switch.

| No, theres no macro switch... the lens has a minimum focusing distance of 13" of its entire zoom range. Zoomed to 75mm and used at the minimum distance of 13" the lens works well as a macro. |

| love mine. I have found a couple of times my vocus was off but over extremely pleased. |

The Tamron is the best investment I've made for my camera. It is a perfect walk around lens! I also use it for my wedding shoots 95% of the time! You've made a good choice!

Just shot this today. I didn't measure or anything, but I'm positive the end of the lens was no more than 5-6 inches from the flower:
It is a very capable macro lens, and given that it's such a good performer overall, that just makes it even more valuable, IMO. |

Doubtful it could be topped at twice the price.
My 28-75mm pretty much lives on my 350D.
Solid build, very sharp, fast & smooth AF and as reliable as a Toyota.
