This was a really interesting challenge. The results were different than I would have picked, but that's probably true for every single person that voted :] ...
Here are some that I would have placed higher:

---
and, of course, mine -- not seen here :)

Anyone else ?

This is the first time I've given a 9 to a brown ribbon! I've got to congratulate this person for sneaking a brilliant conceptual piece right under all your noses...

This got DQed for copyright infringement but SC decided to "hide" it from view...

Priceless!

Definitely agree with these. I scored these 8 and 6 respectively ... commented on both.

Though this is different from where an image places in a challenge, I think the average image submitted to any DPC challenge is underrated by voters. If you accept the site defined definition that "10" means "good" the average scores imply that images are not very good. I don't think that is correct.

I have no idea what this means but it is interesting to note that most of the people here pointing out underrated images generally score submissions far higher than the average DPC voter. I'm thinking they know what they are talking about. :)

I thought this should have placed much higher.

I dunno, Judy. You may be influenced by factors above and beyond photographic purity. LOL!

This was unique and artistic without being over the top.

Steve: This is just a fun way to take a look at the challenge as a whole rather than 1 image at a time,eh? Hey - nice last name by the way.

I'm confused!! I'm wondering WHAT is in the picture that would make anyone question IF it was a SELF portrait.

By the way, fun shot!

Based on the number of 1,2 and 3 votes on my image I have decided that DPC is becoming lactose intolerant. I either need to give up cheese as a prop or pass out lactaid to voters :-P

But MY wings are part of me :) It's interesting. I see putting the camera on a tripod and standing in front of it. Could it be that some people thought it was too GOOD for a young girl to take? Hmmmm...
