Does anyone know if there are any on-line camera companies that rent lenses and will ship? I would really like to try out a 70-200 2.8 VR before I drop $1,600 on one. I can't find any camera stores in my part of the world that will let me try one. Thanks. |

PPR of Atlanta doesn't exactly rent on-line (you have to call or email them), but they do ship. You have to register with them first (by sending a fax about 24 hours in advance) and then you can rent cameras or lenses.
Here's their web address: PPR

//www.rentglass.com (only have Canon right now but they claim Spring '06 for Nikon so they may be worth a call).

Their prices seem pretty reasonable. A good way to check out a lens before buying it!

Has anyone found a good website that rents out digital cameras? Would love to rent one for my son to help me with a wedding. |

I sure miss dpc from 3 years ago. Is it possible to give a shit about someone else? Or is this whole community "all about me" as they say.

I would imagine thats a risky business.
But, google does have some.
I would think its better to have a good contact a local camera store.
Good luck ! |

ProPhoto Supply in Portland, OR. They are across the country, but you can check their site out and I believe they have a pricelist on it. I've never rented, but I've been in the store and purchased. They are reputable. |

Buy it, you'll like it. Everyone I know who has one, says it's their favorite lens.
I rent from Glazers all the time, one day rental, pick up Friday after 3, bring back Monday before 10am. They are closed on Sunday. That lens would be $25 daily.

Soni,
I looked around here to rent something to use as a backup on my upcoming trip, but couldn't find anyting. I was fortunate to find a nice fellow photographer willing to loan me an unused camera to take along just is case! If you are a camera club member or such perhaps someone will lease you a back up, or be really nice and just let you borrow?
Do you have a backup for yourself for the wedding? |

I hear ya Soni. I been feeling that way for a while now. It's not the same around here, and it's not better either.
