Whew, this is one of the most challenging things I've done. I always hope I don't offend people. In the first 25 votes I was forced to give four 4s, a 3 and a 2. It's difficult to come out and say, "I gave you a three." Hope people don't take things the wrong way...

I didn't take it the wrong way...

but then again, i'm not in holy places. :) Kudos to you for offering what i'm sure is constructive criticism along with your vote. Most would just leave the vote(speaking to myself as well).

I'm gonna try this too.

it's good to comment on photo's you usually maybe wouldn't comment on.

I meant to say, that entries I rate 5ish, it's hard to comment on.

"Forced"? Uh-huh.

And just what else do the voices tell you to do?

(and no I wasn't a commentee.)

whew! 9wipes sweat from forehead)

i didn't get a comment from Doc. That seems to be a good thing ;)

I got your comment Doc and I'm offended! :P

Seriously, people get offended because comments aren't left or when one is it's only positive however your score takes a huge hit afterwards. Going bagless is a BIG PLUS but a bigger plus is just leaving sincere and constructive comments. I know sometimes I forget to add a disclaimer to soften a harsh comment but even when I forget I have yet to receive a PM telling me they were offended. At least not yet. :)

Ha, no Rikki just misunderstands. I did the very first 25 shots I saw. The scores thusly were bell-shaped.

8 - 1
7 - 5
6 - 4
5 - 9
4 - 4
3 - 1
2 - 1

I tend to reserve 9s and 10s for the second look unless they absolutely bowl me over.

dang it! and here i thought i was safe ;) well take a second and third look at mine Doc. Heck, take as many looks as you want.

I commented on my first 25 in the challenge too. I didnt give quite as many low scores as that, but then I usually see stuff I like in most of the images I've voted on. Hopefully all the comments people receive are good for something even if it's just to say that the person liked or disliked it.

I guess that many of the votes are coming from a judeo-christian perspective. My entry is more in the Zoroastrian realm -- it involves a glimpse into Ahura Mazda.

Since my scores are low -- I am guessing that the link is being missed by the younger folks on this site.

concept, concept, concept.

I have been watching too many Burger King commercials -- and they have rubbed off on me

Hrm, I'm not looking at it in a religious way. In fact there are some that have nothing to do with churches or religion and I think they're great. To me it's all about good or bad or other photography.

Nope, I am getting comments saying "great shot, but it's a bit of a stretch for this challenge"

Pretty bold talk for a bug killer! Just kidding.

As long as you're honest and constructive, I'll take all the critcism I can get. I just want to get better. And yes, I did just get NI and I overdid it on this one. Lesson learned - never apply effects when editing on a 12" notebook screen. Once I saw it on a big monitor I cringed. Still, my entry is doing better than I thought it would.

i'm getting comments that it's a great shot. However, my score doesn't reflect that :(

Hi all,
Holy places is the first challenge I have entered. Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.

Nah, at that point he'd say it sucks. He's probably got a lowly 6.9 or something. ;-)

Oh, and mine definitely isn't the in the first 25 that show up for anyone, it seems.

I am going to try and comment on every photo in that challenge (I entered Night Shot). I've never commented on 100% before. Sometimes I am blunt and to the point so I hope I don't offend anyone either. Here's where I stand so far:

You have rated 157 of 247 images (64%) in this challenge.

You said mine was boring and you are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO right, Karen!! If you'd said anything else, I would have been disappointed. I appreciate direct and honest feedback and sincerely appreciate it. Thank you.
