Hey there

I have been working and saving money for new video and photography equipment since the summer and I came up with a win-win scheme and I want to see who is interested. I am planning a summer movie that would be a lot different from anything I have done yet and would resemble closer to the theme and look of my photography.

The purpose of this project is simple, to gain experience in creating films so I may persue this as a career in the future. I can use it to build my portfolio so I have a better chance getting into better film schools when I am done high school.

I want to get out there and just do it! If it sucks, it sucks, the point is I made it. However I need to make some funds to pay for some equipment. I have my eyes on a Panasonic DVX100B, external mic and I will create a 35mm lens adapter to achieve a more 'film look' on a DV camera. Any extra money would help me get these things. I am developing a script right now but I am not ready to discuss the plot yet...

So here's my idea with you guys. A lot of people wonder how I edit pictures, so I will make a video explaining some techniques and how I do things. I can record the set-up, execution with my camcorder and then use a screen capture program to record exactly what goes on on my computer screen in Photoshop. I'd do a fun narroration too. I would make it interesting, funny and enjoyable, but also provide lots of great information in photoshop to benefit you and even some challenge entries... ;-)

For this video I would ask a donation of $25. I've seen this type of video thing here and there and I know this is a very generous price, especially since mine will rock. ;-)

I am not afraid of people 'stealing' my techniques or anything, I just thought I would share a skill that sells so I can accomplish this goal of mine.

I have already a few people interested that contact me via e-mail, but I'd love to see who's interested here on DPC.

So... Who's interested? :-)

Interested so far...

I'd buy one. Great idea, by the way - and good luck!

Sure I´ll buy one too but not really for the video (don´t get me wrong, would like to get one) but mainly to support you dude, just promise you´ll spend it wisely and not on booze and chicks :)

You'll have to start a separate thread for the booze and chick donations...

I'm in when you get to it, PM me, or give a shout on the IM.

Yeah for sure man, thanks a lot. :-)

And I don't spend money on booze and chicks, the photos usually cover that enough... ;o)

And thanks everyone!

My friend Sarena is going to help out and be in the video and be the 'model'

I'd be interested, but I need to buy CS2 first since my 30 day trial is about to expire. So, count me in but down the line a little. K?

I would definitely buy one. My daughter took a look at your portfolio today and all she could say was "WOW!" She never says that about my pics. Sob!

Include a couple minutes of your work behind the lens in a photo session and you've got my cash. Your PS talent is clear but you've also got a good eye and interesting ideas about shooting angles so I would appreciate seeing some of the pre-computer magic.
