It seems there are a lot of military affiliated photographers here and I am curious just to see how many.
Active duty, Reserves, Retired and of course, Spouses--
Say a little hello here :)
Be sure to also mention the country you or your spouse defends :)

USMC - 78-92 (15 years); before anyone says why didn't you stay the last 5 for retirement, I will just say that I quadrupled my Salary 6 months after getting out and it has only been getting better...
In defense of Military Pay it has got better now from what I have seen...
Hollywood Marine (bootcamp in SD) that was a bonus baby (monetary incentives to re-enlist) throughout tour of duty. Mobile Comm Center Technician (TTY, Computer, Crypto, Line Conditioning Equipment and Phone Switch). 2818, 2829 and then they restructured the MOS for computers which was a 21xx something I think.
A couple years of CommElec Training, Twentynine Palms and NTC San Diego. 78-80
CommCo, H&S Bn, 1st FSSG, Camp Pendleton, CA. 80-82
EM, H&S Co, 3rd MarDiv, Okinawa Japan. 82-83
Marine Corps Logistics Base, Albany, GA. 83-87
1st Radio Battalion, MCLB Kaneohe Hi. 87-92
And the whole time did not have a (real) camera...sheesh.
uh-rah...

I am in the South African Special Forces - Water and Coast Devision. LOL - Just Kidding. Don't realy know much about the South African Defence Force. Know they were VERY active a couple of years back (In the Namibian war against SWAPO).
These days you don't see them anywhere.

I was in the USAF from 93-97 stationed at Eglin AFB. I worked avionics on the F-16 developing and testing new munitions. I was 4th generation to serve but in all honesty I hope my kids don't. My sister is currently in having just left Afganistan.

Active duty Navy Dental Assistant (well I WAS a dental technician till the hospital corpsman decided to take us over lol)
Not that I'm counting or anything, but...
3 years, 1 month, 11 days, or 27269 hours, 1636171 minutes, 98170288 seconds
...till I retire and finally get to be with my beautiful wife and amazing daughter in Kentucky. I have a one year tour coming up in Okinawa Japan (leave in August) then my final 2 somewhere back here in the U.S.
Wish I didn't have to wait to be with them but really don't have anything to fall back on if I was to leave now (portfolio shows this all too well).

I'm a General in the Icelandic Army... our army is so big that we can take turns in the defence. I defend the country today, and someone else tomorrow ;) (small country)
not like we need an army, the US navy is just about to leave Iceland, we don't need them anymore :)
good thing to, don't want a US base here if the USA attacks Iran with Nuclear weapons, it just makes us targets to.. |
