Looking for some ideas...

I've got about $312 I can "play" with. Any suggestions for fun/interesting/useful purchases? Doesn't necessarily have to be photography related.

I'm thinking of one item currently, but maybe I've got "tunnel vision" and am missing something else that would be cooler... So suggest away.

Thanks.

Doug

I think I'd buy an Xbox 360 core or Sony PSP with that money, but I guess that's my youth speaking :)

Not a bad suggestion. But I'm much more of a flight sim guy, so I play those on my PC with joystick and throttle. IL-2 and Falcon 4. Fun.

If you don't already have one you could get a decent tripod and head for that money.

Woot! BattleField 2 comes out today for the 360. Talk about an online community, XBLive Rocks. Skip the core and go premium. You need the hard disk and once you use the wireless controllers that come with the 360 Prem you will never go back.

Seriously, do you have a Vert Battery Grip for your 20D I pick up a used one from keh for 119 bucks... 120something shipped. I don't know how I lived without it.

battery grip helps with size/holding too? More comfortable? I find battery life to be fine for what I do, so don't really need it for that. How much weight does it add?

Yup adds a little weight (I will find exact) but I got it for the vertical shutter and settings dials (Aperture, shutter depending of the mode). I too have never drained a battery on a weekend shoot, but have come close. I use the grip usually with 1 battery in it.

I found it also adds balance to camera when over the shoulder... the best part is the Vertical Shooting, I could never go back to shooting Portrait Orientation with the standard shutter release.

Already got an 85f1.8. Already got a flash.

What's an image tank?

Interestingly, nobody has yet mentioned the one thing that I was focusing on, and wanted to make sure I wasn't blinded by... Hmmm....

I am buying one of these but have a look as they are marketed under two names (one from Singapore and one from US) but depending on size, one may be cheaper then the other - Hyperdrive is the US based version and EastGear is the Singapore based version (the US version is a recent thing).

There are others with screens to browse the pics and play MP3 e.t.c. but the ones above are NOT them (try searching for P2000 or alike) and these are basically a laptop drive wrapped in some firmware and buttons.
