Sorry to confuse you there Node. I did mean to divide by 15, not 12. The answer was correct though.

OK, remember I am not taking names at this time, but to I think it was yanko, you do not need a ribbon to participate in Season 2. There is no entry requirement other than membership and a willingness to enter every week as far as you go.

For those keeping score...

gaurawa 2.95
Qart 3.2
DrAchoo 3.27
Sir Bazz 3.75
yanko 4.5
Itsimring 5.77
Firsty 5.88
keegbow 9.0
tazza 13.66
jemison 14
Bear Music 17.62
Node 55.5

It's an interesting number. For example, I have to admit Firsty has flown under my radar, but that's an impressive score.

Don't worry node, you'll get there. ;)

Ya Robert, I did it on purpose...

no yanko on that list? :(

P.S. I know I don't have a lot of challenges under my belt unlike the rest.

This will be good practice because enrollment in the second season of the League of Death will likely occur next week
and I will be using your "Top 95%ile Ratio" as a way of seeding the upper half of entrants.
How do I calculate this?

Take the # of challenge entries on your profile and divide by the # of challenges you have finished 95% or higher (the column listed merely as "%")

If you get a number less than 1 you did it backwards. If you have no finishes above the 95%ile your number is technically infinity, (but of course that doesn't make sense in the real world).

The lower the number the better.

For example:
DrAchoo
49 Challenges
15 finishes at 95% or above
49/15 equals 3.27
In real words this means DrAchoo can expect to finish in the 95%ile once every 3.27 challenges he enters.

I'm also open to tweaks or suggestions. I plan on having a minimum number of challenge entries as 5. This won't mean you can't participate, but if you have 4 or less entries you cannot be seeded this season. After some thought I think it may be the best (albeit still a rough) metric for ranking people.
So fire away, let's see whatcha got...

:-/
The league of death? Season two....? I must be missing something here.

Was there a sudden death contest or something I may have missed?

I am at 4.58, Now what do I do?

Am I on that list Dr Achoo??
04/11/2006 11:46:08 PM · #33
how about me? LOL!
04/12/2006 12:42:01 AM · #34
I seem to just have caused more confusion than anything here.

#1: I am not enrolling yet in the LoD: Season 2
#2: The list above isn't a list of entrants
#3: There is no list yet.
#4: See #1.

This is what I get for just getting too excited and doing something like this a little early.

I will likely open enrollment in the middle of next week. Since season one entrants were so nice to participate in the experiment, they will have a chance to enroll early, but I am going to have 32 slots this time so there will be plenty of room.

My ratio just went up! :-P
04/12/2006 12:54:06 AM · #36
Mine just went up too :)

It's 3.91 right now.

Is there a minimum number of entries to qualify? I have only entered 11 challenges so far but have 3 top 95%'s. That'd be a ratio of 3.67.

Cheers, Lawrence

The minimum # of entries is going to be 5. That doesn't mean you can't join, but it means you can't be seeded. The Top 16 ratios will be seeded so they don't face each other. The next 16 challengers will then be randomly assigned their slot (against one of the seeded challengers. So if you have less than 5 challenges entered, you will be in the nonseeded 16, but can still join.

3.67 is sweet dark...

4.333 and that number doesn't even start to describe how great your stuff is.

143/33 = 4.33 recurring.

Your consistently very very good (edit: for a lazy person).

12 entries, 3 over 90% = 4.0. Would that mean, I'm better than goodman? There must be something wrong with this statistics...
04/12/2006 03:09:30 AM · #44
23 over 90% so 69/23 = 3?

The magic margin is 95% and not 90% so 69/10 = 6.9

cheers,

103 entries
20 in 95%+
103/20=5.15

though 95%+ does not equate to a top 10 finish in all challenges

Regardless you are still doing better than my ratio.

Hmmm, well I guess I am pretty consistant, if I calculated this correctly it´s 2.3 at the 95%.

I think this verifies a theory I have about myself, that I take heaps of good photos but few awesome ones and few bad ones, well maybe not my place to judge that but I usually end up in the top 80% and have relatively few ribbons for someone with a 6.3 average score in 55 challenges. You think I am correct?

Oh and I just read over the rest of the thread, I would like to be in this league of death thing if you´ll have me, competition/being thrown out in the deep end of the pool brings out the best in me.
