Okay, I seem to have developed this immense problem, and I dont know whether I am stupid or not, but it seems I have limited my 'like' for my own pics.
If I shoot a pic, and its not in focus or completely sharp at a 100%, I am immediately dissatisfied with the shot, even though it still looks fine when viewed normally.
Is this something I have to overcome, or should most shots be sharp at 100%?
I feel I am getting less and less shots out because of this...

At 100%, I'm disappointed with most of the pics I take with the kit lens... but I'm well happy with the 50mm prime! |

I'm not talking about entering only Rikki.
Personal Pictures as well.
So if you say 50% of all your pics is sharp, are you then still content with a shot which is not in focus at 100%?
I think Shutterstock also made me more critical in that they only chose pics which were extremely sharp at 100%...
<sigh> Am I doomed?

Have you printed them out to see how sharp or unsharp they actually are? Also how are you sharpening them?

Yeah I have, and they look okay.
I use USM at about 85% most of the time... nothing too hectic.
But the thing is, I'm always scared to blow something up to A3 if it's not sharp at 100%.
So my actual question is... is it a bad photo if it's not sharp at 100%?

That depends on what the intended output is.
If your planning to hang 100% crops on the wall then it's a bad image.
If your planning a resized 640x640 image on dpc then it's probably OK.
cheers,
bazz.

Might want to try a trial version of nik Sharpener Pro. I don't have any experience with it but Luminous Landscape seem to give it a good review and it's based on sharpening for print output.
Edited for clarity
