Hello All,

I have been asked to shoot some engagement photos on the beach. My clients asked what colors they should wear. I have an idea, but I would like the opinions of my DPC peers.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

David

not red or purple....digital cameras basically suck at capturing either realistically

I like where your head's at :)

Tell the guy to break out some khaki shorts, flip flops, and a white polo (preferably of the Ralph Lauren, Vineyard Vines, or J. Crew variety)

(You've probably figured out by now that I'm pretty preppy. That's what 5 years at a boys prep school will do.)

Yeah. I agree here. I am doing a shoot with my friend for his engagement photos and I told them to dress casually but with the same colors. My recommendation was either white and khaki pants or white long sleeved shirts and jeans ;)

Either way, it'll look great ;) Post some phtoos when you're done ;)

I agree with the white shirts and khaki pants. If they wear dark clothes, it can become difficult to get a nice exposure. (think underexposing the clothes or blowing out the sky)

I've found that some colors can cast a nasty color on the face. Red and yellow can be bad about this.

Good luck :)

Plaid! Dead men don't wear it, but it will make better beach photos.

Trust me on this.

Correction: Disregard me on this.

These are unedited, straight from the camera. I did my directors engagement pictures behind my house. Did them around 4:30 in the afternoon, and I shot about 125 pics. All came out nice with the white and khaki..

Definately, for the beach, white shirt with khaki pants

I'm not so excited about the khaki pants.....I'm thinking the linen pants...maybe wite or beige...pale blue shirt or white, off white...definitly sandles...kind of the Kenny Chesney Look on the beach...... yea...thats my vote

If they have yellow Pants and Blue shirts you wont be able to see them I doubt.
Jokes a side avoid stripes, I would go for bright joyful colours

Thanks for all of the great advise. We had a lot of fun doing the shoot. The bad part is that it was extremely bright (even at 5pm) and the wind was gusting up tp 35mph. All in all, the clients were VERY pleased and I had a great time.

Here are the images I said I would post.

Also, if anyone cares to see, I put together a video for them as well.
See Video Here

Thanks again to all.

David
