carry four backpacks with you on a shoot? I went out one Saturday morning to take pictures for the afterlife challenge. As I was taking pictures, I noticed that another car had pulled up beside mine. This guy came walking over to me with 4 backpacks, and the biggest tripod I had ever seen. I took one picture of him. I guess that's my question. How many backpacks do you carry? How much stuff could you possibly need?

The further from the car you are hoofing the less you are going to carry. All my stuff fits in my Jansport daypack and I usually try to shed what I'm not likely to use

4 backpacks? WOW.

I have a Tamrac Expedition 8 and a Canon 200EG. The Tamrac is FRIGGEN HUGE but somehow I still filled it all up. It weighs about 30lbs with everything in it. I rarely take everything with me, so 99% of the time I just take what I need in my Canon backback.

Usually take my camera with 2 lenses, maybe my mono pod or tri-pod depending on where im going and likely to do. If I take any more its comfort items for the wait for wild life or the right light.

1 pack, a Tamrac Velocity 7. Fits camera, 2 lenses, misc filters, extra batteries, and some other junk. I usually carry a tripod or monopod in my hand if I bring one w/ me.

I'm often shooting on hikes, at the beach, and whatnot, so I can't be carrying that much stuff. It's a good challenge to carry the right stuff to get the images you see, but not so much that you can't move quickly enough. Got to go light as possible with camera stuff when backpacking. That extra pair of dry socks you left home in order to bring 1 more lens may make you really unhappy some day!

Three were probably empty. Just a scare tactic.
