Canon EF 24-105mm f/4.0L IS

I'd highly recommend GoDaddy. Lots of space, cheap (5GB for $3.95 a month), good customer service. I've had 4 sites up with them over about 3 years (3 currently active) and never any problems.

I have good luck with www.x9hosting.com. They have great service and have only had 2 minutes downtime in the last 3 months. X9 Web Hosting is actually run by the former owner of Thunderhost.org. I was sick of the downtime from Thunderhost that i decided to switch hosts, and just by a fluke I saw one of X9 banners on a site and went to talk to the live support and sure enough it was Kevin that owned Thunderhost. I must say that he really did a great job with X9 and has added many features to this company.

So all in all that is my pick. :)

Scratch my recommendation. The host I was going to recommend just slapped me in the face and I won't be using them any longer.

I use DreamHost.
The first year I got a coupon code so it was only $10 (with domain!), and it worked out so well I ordered a second year at normal price (bit more than $10...).

Great host, very fast and reliable, allows shell access and a lot of other goodies. And loads of space and bandwidth, bandwidth should only be a problem if you give the wrong person access to one of your FTP accounts and they use it for a warez server.. then you just delete the account and call it good ;p

I use 1and1. I got in on promotion (3 yrs for free) but their rates are pretty good. As low as 2.99/month US.

Same here, and I have only had to use support once (requesting they turn something on for PHP and Gallery), got a response within an hour on email.

Okay...here is a dumb question from a website dummie. I currently have my website through BetterPhoto....but in May I want to changeover to someone who can give me what I want.

Here is the list -

- Plenty of templates
- Easy to use and build
- Able to add music, text and of course images as I need
- The ability to include Artistic nudity
- Doesn't cost a bomb

Who do I go with?

Thanks MK. I might just take you up on your offer...! I do have an eye on one site provider...but being a dummie in this matter it is a little overwhelming. I have about 8 weeks to decide what to do...so I will do a little more research first.

Hello, I too have my site with BetterPhoto and I like it very much. Its reasonable, easy to use, your work can not be pirated, and does not cost an arm and a leg. Although, soon I will be setting up a more elaborated site. Then I will have to see where to go, however, I intend to keep the BetterPhoto too.

I hope no-one minds me digging up this post...I have a question about the same subject...

I am getting ready to switch from Photosite to SmugMug (Pro). I will be able to transfer my domain name. (YAY!)

I am trying to find a new host so I can use my domain name for SmugMug but I am not exactly sure what I need. I just want people to be able to type in www.jralstonphotography.com to access my SmugMug site. There are some hosting sites that come with email, different storage sapces...I don't know. I am a webhosting dummy. Can someone tell me what exactly I should get?

If you're using smugmug as your host, all you'll need is a domain name. SmugMug is the place that provides your storage space, etc. GoDaddy.com is a cheap domain registrar.
