I want to do some photo books for my clients, for a wide diversity of works.

For example to print a proof book for weddings, to do a photographyc book for models, and for baptism ceremony and other ceremony tipes.

I was looking at Asuka Books. they are a bit pricey but I heard that qualaty is very high. I've heard a lot of good thins about mypublisher.com

Any more suggestions? What are your experience with this tipe of books?

MyPublisher.com

I personally wasn't pleased with the quality from MyPublisher...part of the problem was with the linen cover...it collects lots of dust/dirt and the plastic frame on the front looks really cheap. Also, blacks and other dark colors do not print out very well IMO. I'd like to check out Mac's software that comes with iPhoto. They have options similar to MyPublisher but seem to be a lot cheaper.

I Love Asuka books! They are easy to make, the customer service is excellent, and the books are very high quality!

I recently had a client order one for their wedding album. They ordered the 10x10 80 side. I am still making it, but I can't wait to see it!

So, yeah.... Asuka is the one for me!

One problem with online book print is the sizes that they offer. some are just too small for high end customers. The minimum size that I'm interested in is 20x30cm.
Any other thoughts?

iPhoto uses mypublisher to make the books, as far as I could tell.
They offer lower prices due to bulk purchasing.

Soon after MyPublisher's introduction, Apple Computer began offering these same books using its own software and interface. Apple built the book-design process right into its widely praised iPhoto picture-organizing software, which is included on all new Macs. Apple's book-creation interface is different from MyPublisher's, but MyPublisher produces the books under contract for Apple.

AsukaBook.com

As far as I know, they'll only sell books to professional photographers/ resellers. They aren't doing end customer sales. It's also why they don't quote prices on their website, you have to be under contract with them as a reseller.

they don't let you make books. I'm trying to find a place where you can design your own professional quality photo books. Thanks for the suggestoins though. I might try having them print me something sometime.

winkflash.com - probably low end, but for the price i want to try one (20 pages, $19)

mypublisher.com you know about.

lifephoto.com - the supplier for the pro-only illuma memory books (apollo imagizing - //www.lifephoto.com/demo/User/Login.aspx - $50 or so for an 8x8 with 20 sides, leather cover. they have lots of sizes, hard and soft cover.
//www.apollo-imagizing.com/index.php for illuma.

Got cash? WhiteGlove ($950 and up)

cornerstone is gary fong's company, 10x15 in size, giclee is process and not too pricey.

I just received my first asuka book, i am IN LOVE.... i, like you, wanted to design the whole thing... i downloaded the pages into photoshop and away i went, it was fantastic, then i waited with baited breath, and three weeks later i recieved it... the results were mind blowing... the guy i did the book for just cryed when i gave it to him, and so has everyone that looked at it.. you can view it here, so sorry bout the photos i have done, the pages are so unbelieveably glossy, and i only had a few minutes to take the photos before i gave it to him..
you can view it here //www.kellymuncephotography.com/-/kellymuncephotography/gallery.asp?cat=27542 **** sorry everyone, i have a new site, and as yet am to put the photos of the book on it****
if you click on the first one, then click next to view the rest of them in large view...
let me know what you think.. i just love mine....

I've tried a few photo book companies, AsukaBooks is far and away the very best I've seen. Exceptional books, exceptional packaging, exceptional customer service (and yes, quite pricey).

Millers Imaging has excellent photo books and superb customer service, with nice packaging options, cost a bit more than Black River, but substantially less than Asuka.

Black River Imaging also has very high quality photo books, especially their hinged and lay-flat books. Also great customer service and nice packaging options.

MyPublisher was the one that I liked the least. The book was cheap looking and the photos had a "muddy" look in dark areas. I ordered from them twice, was very disappointed both times...this was, however, about 7 years ago, so they may have improved by now.
