lets discuss!

is it gonna be a religious topic?
are voters gonna be angry with a photo that is against their beliefs?
03/01/2006 01:05:34 AM · #2
I would think that was a possibility, but I note that 1st in 7 virtues had a rosary, so maybe people are more open than I think.

I think afterlife will be tough, interesting and I bet controversial. I would personally take it from a religious stand point. But am very curious to see what people can come up with.

Maybe there'll be a lot of orbs.

Personally, I will likely to take it from a religious stand point too, since we are, afterall, brought up to believe with an impression of how the afterlife will be. Like DrAchoo said earlier, lets hope the voters are as open-minded with the submissions this time.

It says right here;

Photograph your own conceptualization of the afterlife.

not Photograph what the voters conceptualization of the afterlife is.

I usually start with the first line, but eventually may select a photograph that meets the 2nd line for submission :)

Would a solid black image go well with the voters?

Just how is this going to be carried out without religious overtones? I don't see how it can be avoided -- but the real question is can the voters be objective enough to see a different vision of an afterlife than what they envision?

afterlife could be what you feel as in,paradise, you could do a hand towards a door, with a misty cloud around it *hope the fogs good that day *you could do through a church porch way r something.i feel it may have something to do with death already,so like a grave stone??

I'm sorry that you'll all disappear when I cease to be.

You could take the scientific/humanist view - unless your definition of religion is broader than mine. You know the kind of thing - 'portion of this yew / was a man my grandsire knew ...'

This is a really really hard challenge. I mean how do you photograph something you can't see? Personally I think there is a 2nd layer to this universe outside of the constraints of time and space that connects us all (and everything else) through our subconscious, this goes in line with ESP or Sixth sense theories, and when we die our soul becomes a part of this 2nd layer. Yes I am a Christian, but that's my idea of what heaven is.

Perhaps my definition is broader than most. That is, anything that concerns that portion of an individual not bound to the physical body is by definition spiritual in nature. I certainly don't limit religion to that which goes on within certain buildings.

I was just thinking it's ashame that we can't combine two photos for this. I could do a steak with a phantom cow in it.

I think I'll just go empty my vacuum cleaner in the yard at night, then shoot some orbs.

How about a photo of a bunch of dust and ashes?
