Come on.....admit it, there must be a lot of you guys out there that bought tickets for the Powerball. I mean, it's almost at 400 Million...the biggest lottery jackpot ever.

I bought a couple of tickets earlier tonight, even thought I never play the lottery I thought I would give it a try this week just for fun.

Check back in this thread later on after the drawing....I wanna know if anybody wins:P

I read that the chances of winning are something like 1:160000000 Haha....not too good eh?

Chances are even worse if you don't buy one at all. :D

Got mine. :D

Wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. Besides they don't sell Power Ball in Washington.

Did buy a Mega-bucks today. Only 180 mil but I can buy a trailer with that.

Curious, why is powerball only available in half of the states? It's even available in the Virgin Islands but not NY, Texas and other states.

Not sure....I last read it was available in 28 states. Hmmm....I guess they only sell it in the cool states, errrrmmmm....if you want to call Kansas cool, lol.

Those other states have the Mega Millions lottery. Guess they don't want to do both.

Isn't the lottery just a tax on people who are bad at math? ;)

Then if you win you are taxed out of the ass even more.

I has to do with what % goes to the state. PowerBall was our multi-state lottery for a while then the state decided they would get a better return from the Mega Million.

Each state where lottery is legal has a chance to sign-up with a multi-state lotto. When they do they have to look at what profits they are going to make on the purchase of a ticket and they also have to look at what kind of impact is it going to make on the own state lotto, where they get the biggest return per $.

you gotta play to win... statistics say that if the pot is over $140m, then it's a 'wise' inverstment to play... not sure about the soundness of that logic, but I have my ticket. =]

I got one ticket (it's all I ever buy). I have an old high school friend that won $27 million through powerball buying a quickpick ticket just minutes before the machines were shut down. Unfortunately for her her life went pretty much to hell in a handbasket.

y'all are just wasting your $$$. I'm going to win it. Free 20D's and L lens if I win!!!!

Oh yeah..... we're in it.

I am convinced we are going to win. My husband bought his ticket when we went to visit some friends today. When he stopped in the store to buy the ticket... he saw friends of his that we haven't seen in 3 years or so.... and they just stopped in on their way from one town to another. How weird!

That is why I am convinced we are going to win!

I got 45 tickets with the guys at work -- 9 people times $5 each hehe

I always have to get in because if they all won and I didn't, I'd kick myself harder than I care to talk about.

If I ever win, I'll probably give away a few d2x's and 1dsmkII's

well, that didn't go so well... =/
02/18/2006 11:12:48 PM · #20
heh I won't find out until tomorrow -- the tickets remain locked up at work.
02/19/2006 12:13:57 AM · #21
Not me. The odds are almost as good for me winning when I don't buy a ticket as they are for folks who do buy one. lol.. well almost.

I forgot to play - so I guess that about guarantees I'll be at work on Monday! LOL
