Man U is about to change their name to the Manchester Buccaneers :). Its suprising to see more and more hatred moving away from Man U and towards Chelsea. Both are kind of like the Yankees...people really hate them because they can buy all the best players. I think that is the reason why I enjoyed watching the Gunners run the table a few years back. I respect Liverpool and actually saw them play Everton in a pack house at Wembly Stadium when I was a kid. What an amazing experience!!!!

Are we talking soccer or Rugby. Soccer isn't anything compared to American football or rugby. Soccer is popular because it gives third world countries a chance to win something. (oh, I probably shouldn't have said that).

Actually, i agree, you guys could well be the dark horses, you could upset a few 'established' teams.

Would love to see the USA do well in the world cup. I really like to see underdogs do well, the last world cup was great for this reason, the likes of Senegal and Japan outplaying the likes of France and Spain was great to watch.

As for Liverpool beating the scum on Saturday, I am feeling confident we can do it, we were robbed by Utd a few weeks ago in the league. Just a shame we have complete shite up front (with the exception of god, obviously), now if the scum would just sell us Van Nistlroy & Roony we'd be smokin!

On a side note (and I am being serious here, not taking the piss), why do americans call their baseball league the World Series when only Americans play in the league?

Ah Dresden, didn't they have Matty Sammer a few years ago, that guy was a top Defender/Midfielder. One thing Germany does well is Defensive Midfielders

Good question! There are indeed Canandian teams in Major League Baseball...don't forget about that. Most of the dominant players in the league these days are Latino from places like the Dominican Republic. There definitely is a world flavor to the team rosters, but I agree that it seems silly to call it the World Series.

wow, somebody knows about dynamo!!i'm overwhelmed!;P

I've got to make a few comments about the state of football that I'd like to hear some thoughts on:

1) Are we ever going to get away from all the diving? I'm so tired of guys diving when they are barely touched and then rolling around on the ground like they are hurt. Once play resumes, they seem to be all better? They have gotten better at giving cards to offenders, but its still too much

2) The delay of game tactics are also getting bad. Taking 2 minutes to take a goal kick or throw the ball is ridiculous and certainly doesn't make the sport and more viewer friendly.

As a player since the age of 5, I don't need to have a lot of goals in a game to appreciate a good match, so I'm not complaining about scoring making the game less viewer friendly, but the diving and time wasting just seems to be too much.

LOL, I must confess that I remember Sammer more than the team Mephisto. Although I did watch a lot of Bundisliga a few years ago as it was televised a fair bit here in the UK. Matthias Sammer always sticks in my mind as a great player, I remember buying him in a game called Sensible World of Soccer on my old Amiga, that guy kicked arse!

Tend to watch more La Liga & Serie A these days (after the Premiership obviously)

UEFA (European Footy Body) have stamped out all forms of time wasting these days rasdub, a keeper is only allowed to keep the ball for around 20 seconds these days or he is booked (same with throw ins etc).

They have promised to deal with the diving etc and you do see the odd guy get booked for diving, but still not nearly enough. Diving in the penalty area will usually earn a player a booking tho. You usually find its the players with the most flair and talent that are also the worst divers, drives me bloody mad!

Chill! I'm sure it was only meant in jest! It's just a bugbear over here that you call it football, and changed ours to soccer, yet in your game the majority of the time the ball is in your hands!
Although i know a few Brit rugby players who'd gladly have your pro's over...no guarding though!

No...I agree with him...there are other ways of promoting your 'sport' than by belittling a mainly American sport by calling it "Sissy American" -- freaking ridiculous.

I'm pissed.

Maybe you have to be English, but it was clearly meant in good humour.

Germany might be in with a shout, they are getting stronger all the time.

I am Welsh which means I never EVER!!!! get to follow my national team through a major tournament, but I usually root for England.

Enland are difficult to predict at the mo, they have some of the greatest players in the world (Steve Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney, Micheal Owen and Beckham to name a few) but also have a complete shagwitt for a coach. Will either do well or will be complete shite.

Reckon the Argentinians might be due a good tournament too. All I know is I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!!

P.S. Trust deapee to change the tone of this discussion, its call taking the mick mate, just chill out! Football (the american kind) is always laughed at in the rest of the world because you took the word football and applied it to a sport that has very little to do with kicking a ball whilst applying the shit name SOCCOR to the sport of football. No one here is seriously picking on America or anything, tis just a bit of banter is all!

I didn't change anything, I simply, in a joking manner, called his comment 'sissy english' -- because of the 'ou' that he used in humor -- didn't you get the joke?

So kicking a ball has very little to do with the American football? I beg to differ -- kicking the ball to the other team matters tremendously, starting field position is a big deal, and kicking the ball is what gets it there. Furthermore, the highest scoring player ever in the NFL is a kicker who got those points from ... you guessed it, kicking the ball through the uprights and scoring field goals and extra points...

Like I said, there are other ways to talk about your sports than to call America's version sissy...it serves no good at all.

BTW I gotta say, I can't wait to see a few matches at Munich Stadium, that has to be the greatest sporting venue I have ever seen.

If you don't know, two club teams share the ground and it changes colour depending on which team are playing there, awesome here are some piccies
