Resulting from our discussions in the oldest pub in Amsterdam after a beer or three at the Amsterdam GTG in January
Anastasia and I are organising a Europe GTG in July here in Germany. The dates are not definite yet but it will be in the last two weeks of July this year.

Planned is a two day event which will include a day's photo shooting in the beautiful, historic German city of Muenster.

And of course some drinkies in the evening.

The second day will include a workshop to take place in a large studio in Muenster. This workshop will cover nude and glamor photography with emphasis on creating and understanding sophisticated lighting effects. Different types and methods of studio lighting will be covered, not only restricted to glamor/nude but also portrait photography. We are planning to have one or two professional German nude/glamor photographers whose work has appeared in books, magazines (e.g. Playboy, JQ, Max) and posters internationally to help hold the workshop. We are arranging some models (the number depending on how many people participate).

The workshop will look something like:

1) Gathering ideas for a shooting, i.e. props, clothing, brainstorming
2) Preparation, make-up basics, hair-do, clothes selection, collaboration between model and photographer
3) Lighting set-up, "making lighting work" learn to set up the lighting to illicit an emotional response to your final photo.
4) The photograph, posing for the most flattering result, composition techniques, realising your vision.

There will be a small fee to cover the studio and model costs, but we will post later about how much that will be. Anyone interested, any suggestions, whatever, please post here.

Gosh, I am going to be in Germany in the second part of July (17-21). However, I am going to be in Dresden for a conference, and from what I can see, Munster is pretty far from Dresden :(. I am very tempted, though... Keep the information coming...

It is not really necessary to have a camera with you. It would help for sure, but just come anyway.

I have just made two big crosses in my agenda for those weeks, count me in! :)

The workshop, I have zero experience with portrait shooting, models, studios and studio lighting. That's ok?

Looking forward to it!

I'm very interrested in joining you, the second half of july shouldn't be a problem for me, and another trip to Germany sounds like fun...

but there is always the issue of housing and transport, there is a direct flight from Iceland to Frankfurt-Hahn
but then I'm lost.. need directions from there.. I prefer a guide ;) since I don't speak German...

Great Idea. When you take this seminar on a world tour be sure to add Los Angeles to your agenda.

I am in Italy right now and I hope to stay. My father in law is in Manhaim (not sure the spelling). I am back from China and fresh in Europe. I am definetly interested.
Mostly for the drinking. I can lend my camera to Giorgio when it will be hard to hold it hehe

Unfortunately, that is dead in the middle of the only time of year I actually work. Sorry, but I will have to take a raincheck, and come visit in the fall.

useless... according to tradition you can only have ONE shot before every meal... that means you have to be eating the whole day... better just to have beer.. that way you can choose the time you want to eat ;)
