If you take note of the ground in the back, it doesn't look like winter. My guess is they sprayed water and quick freeze. makes a very nice photo subject though :)

| I noticed that also... It is a cool photo, but, how could they spray water onto it and then get it to freeze??? LOL! Probably a Photoshop creation. |

But they look so real! Check out these 2 more photos of the cheries. Dont they seem real? I dont think it's due to photo editing. If it is, then this guy is REALLY good with graphics softwares!

Sprayed water is used to protect (fruit)trees against frost in spring. I've seen it a couple of times here in Holland.
Very nice object to photograph! |

Cool photos for sure.. it would be interesting to know how they are done... but just so that you know... thos aren't Cherries... they are some kind of a berry, that are slightly hard around the outside, and they flower beautifully (if I remember correctly) we used to have those in our front yard, they made great amunition to throw at my bro. LOL...

KissakiMan is right. The picture was taken during spring. Maybe it doesn't look like cold weather to you because there is no snow. In Holland we don't get much snow (years can go by without any snow), but it can get very cold. We can have frost during the nights till late spring. When this happens the farmers will spray water on their fruittrees to have a protective layer of ice on the blossom or fruit.

How cold is it? I'm curious as how the large amount of water can get frozen while they are still on the tree branches!

How cold? In case of a frost night I think it will be between 1 and, let's say, 6 degrees below zero (on the ground). But the water is sprayed over the trees the whole night, so a tree can hold a thick layer of ice.
