I just want to say a heartfelt thanks to all of you at DPC. I posted the image of my 2nd-born in the Off-Centred Subject II challenge, not to compete, really, more through the urge to share.

Her name is Julie. We chose this because we wanted a name which both sets of grandparents would be comfortable with (Scottish and Japanese). The sounds 'ju' and 'ri' can be written using characters that mean 'tree' and 'lapis lazuli' respectively. The 'ju' is often found in names, but the 'ri' is rare, like the jewel.

Here are some other photos from this past week.

Her cries are so tiny that the effort she puts into making them creases me up. And anyway, she soon returns to normal.

I wish to thank all of those who commented during the voting period. Arigatou gozaimasu. Thank you.

Jim

Only today I was wondering what you'd been up to. Now we know. Congratulations! And you're right, the "ri" is pretty rare in a name.

Thanks. I've been lurking a lot here. A hectic new job and buying a house kept me away from the camera for far longer than I care to admit. The wife is doing 'sato-gaeri' right now, so I'm free, free, free..............

Hi, Marac.

What an adorable little bundle of joy. Great name. I like that it's kanji - so I can read it (or take a stab at it... I've seen that second character before, but couldn't place the chinese pronunciation. My Chinese HWR sees it, but the dictionary doesn't have that word in it... yay.
